Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Maud'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

    Joshua says: "Wonderful production!"
"Pretty Cool Story - Very Original"
    Overall

    The story is fantastic.
The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the structure of this audio book.
It is theatrical with many characters (many voices) and then it changes to the main narrator who will also do his own versions of the character's voices.
It would have been better if it was either narrated by one person or a theatrical presentation with many actors, but not both.
I hope that I made this review clear.

Jack's prize money has set the household accounts aright, but if he continues frittering it on naive extravagances, it will be gone in a fortnight. Fortunately he gets a commission aboard the Leopard, bound for Australia to rescue the hated and captive Captain Bligh.

Gene says: "Most moving chase sequence in the whole series"
    "Very Well Written"
    Overall

There are a few negative reviews of this book.
    I would disagree.
I found this story to be very entertaining and very well written.
It's not all swashbuckling, but still a very good story.
Besides, if you don't listen to this story, you won't understand the beginning of the next story.

Lyra and Will, the two ordinary children whose extraordinary adventures begin in The Golden Compass and The Subtle Knife, are in unspeakable danger. With help from Iorek Byrnison the armored bear and two tiny Gallivespian spies, they must journey to a dank and gray-lit world where no living soul has ever gone.

Anita says: "an exceptional story that's had bad press"
    "Entertaining"
    Overall

These type of productions are not my favorite. It gives the impression of a television show or movie and not a book.
It also has some anti christian undertones which is a turn off for me.

However, it was entertaining enough for me to listen to all 3 of the trilogy. It reminds of a B rate Narnia story.

Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon is summoned to deliver an evening lecture in the U.S. Capitol. Within minutes of his arrival, the night takes a bizarre turn. A disturbing object is discovered in the Capitol Building. The object is an ancient invitation, meant to usher its recipient into a long-lost world of hidden esoteric wisdom. And when Langdon's mentor is kidnapped, Langdon's only hope of saving him is to accept this invitation and follow wherever it leads him.

    F. Hayek says: "Do yourself a favoe, pick up a good book"
    "A very suspenseful thriller"
    Overall

This is not Dan Brown's best work and is somewhat predictable, but still very good. Unfortunately everything he has written has the same formula and of course everything is compared to his best work, Angels and Demons (5 stars).
I would give this one 4-1/2 stars if I could.
However, don't let that deter you from downloading this great story.
I will always give Dan Brown the benefit of the doubt since all of his stories have been a hit, just some more than others.

It is 1780, and 17-year-old Alan Lewrie is a brash, rebellious young libertine. So much so that his callous father believes a bit of naval discipline will turn the boy around. Fresh aboard the tall-masted Ariadne, Midshipman Lewrie heads for the war-torn Americas, finding - rather unexpectedly - that he is a born sailor, equally at home with the randy pleasures of the port and the raging battles on the high seas. But in a hail of cannonballs comes a bawdy surprise.

Andrew says: ""Sex, Swords, Sailing Ships""
"It's like a young Jack Aubrey"
    Overall

This is a great story of a naval hero starting out as a midshipman. The only thing that didn't appeal to me, was the sex. The sexual parts are a little too descriptive for my taste. Other than that, the story is written very well and will keep you in suspense until the end.
It's a refreshing change to hear this type of story from the start of a naval career instead of the main character already being an officer (i.e. Aubrey).
It will leave you yearning for the next book of the series. A truly fantastic read...uh...I mean listen.

What he discovers is unimaginable: a deadly vendetta against the Catholic Church by a centuries-old underground organization, the Illuminati. Desperate to save the Vatican from a powerful time bomb, Langdon joins forces in Rome with the beautiful and mysterious scientist Vittoria Vetra.

Phillip says: "I couldn't put it down...5 STARS"
    "Great Story - Very Entertaining"

This is Dan Brown's best story ever. It is suspenseful with fantastic twists. Even if you have seen the movie, you will be very surprised. The movie is horrible, but the book is great.

Here is an acclaimed, exciting, fully dramatized performance of the Conan Doyle classic A Case of Identity. It's elementary that any Conan Doyle fan will want this splendid Sherlock Holmes mystery, a timeless tale performed as radio theater.

    Jean says: "lovely"
    "Boring Short"
    Overall

The story isn't very suspenseful. It makes me hesitant to purchase any full length Sherlock Holmes, but I will probably purchase one full length just to give it another chance. I don't like the arogance of Sherlock Holmes. I am a little selfish in this review since I am not very fond of the theatrical way of telling these stories.

A truly magnificent work. This is the best story I have heard in a long time. It was 10 times better than expected. I will now have to what else is available by Alexandre Dumas. You will not be dissappointed.
