"Wonderful mystery and Victorian intrigue"
I never read a book by Wilkie Collins, and I truely enjoyed this one. My favorite narrators both! What a treat. Simon Prebble and Josephine Bailey. I truely hope they read a book together again. Someone please hire both of these readers over and over! The book itself had a great story. It is still an intriguing story after all this time. Loved it!
"I am hooked!"
The book is exceptionally read by the narrator. The books content is fun and exciting and kept my interest all throughout the story. I absolutely am enchanted by this book and plan on reading the entire series.
I love Saphira the dragon! But I also love Eragon and the relationship they have started in Book 1.
No. But I will!
It kept me from making dinner more than once as I was engrossed in the story!
Highly recommended for all ages from teens to the elderly!
"lots of fun"
I really liked this book to my suprise! I have a tendency toward books 100 years old or older, so hearing a modern novel was fun. I just finished Maurice, and gay romance stories have certainly got hotter! I loved Maurice as it is so romantic, but this book is romantic and hot all at the same time. Add paranormal werepanthers and you have a good story. I hope she makes a sequel! I also wished lesbian novels were more fun, I am a gay women and we need stories like this one too!!!
"Another wonderful listen"
This book was alot of fun. I loved the characters. Both narrators did a great job, but I especially liked Jenny Agutter. Her voice is beautiful and she did the characters very nicely. The story is lovely.
"This is a great book"
I loved this book. The nuances and character developement as well as the authors insight into human nature. Josephine Bailey reads the novel with perfection. I think she is one of the absolutely BEST narrators out there!
"Nothing can stop me from loving Bronte"
This novel is long, 24 hours of listening pleasure. It was so very interesting, considering it is a historical piece. I love learned about the Napolean era and the effects it had on England. Charlotte weaves in the characters within this terrible time in history. The narrator is excellent. I was lost in time once again. I am amazed that Charlotte wrote and completed this book during a span of which her 3 remaining siblings died. Her brother, Ann Bronte, and Emily Bronte. She is definitely a novelist I would have liked to meet!
"I love anything Bronte"
Agnes Grey read by Emilia Fox is charming and engaging if not predictable (but who cares its a Bronte!). I thought the narrators voice was angelic and perfect for the meandering mind of the protagonist. I feel that I go back in time, that these audio books of stories from that century, make me feel like I am in my own time ship. The verses, the words used at that time, make English a beautiful language to me again. I love listening to the story but also enjoy the poetic verses that are throughout the book. IA lovely listen.
"A beautiful, amazing book"
I love Charlotte Bronte, her sisters and everything about this particular book. First of all, the narration is sublime. I can't wait to have Mandy Weston hired over and over again, to read book after book, especially of this time period. She is up there with Josephine Bailey who is one of my very favorite narrators. Villette is a masterpiece. It is too bad that Jane Eyre so overshadowed Charlottes other books. I loved Villette. I love the protaganist of Lucy Snowe. I lived in this book, I could barely function in this century while I was engrossed in this audio!!! More people, who love this genre need to hear this book, its just wonderful.
