Suspenseful yet charming
Dallas getting along with Summerset
In an early In Death book a different narrator was used - Nobody can do the voicces like Susan; I can't read one of these books without hearing the voices in my head..
Anytime Peabody interacts with Rourke is charming and funny
I just spent almost 10 hours listening to a book with the MOST AWFUL ending. James Patterson does not need to leave you wanting more. Any of his faithful readers would read the next Alex Cross book even with the unresolved ending of this book. I felt robbed! So if you have a spare 10 hours to devote to this book, listen to it now. If your time is more valuable, wait till the next book comes out and listen to it them.
This narrator is my FAVORITE reader. I have friends and family who read this series and I tell them they are missing so much. When Susan portrays Roarke or Peabody it is truly classic. I love the irish brogue of Roarke and his family. This story brought many of the former characters together that we remember and love. I'm not sure that a newcomer would enjoy the story as much. But for the loyal fans this was a Thanksgiving treasure.
This was not a mystery, as I thought it would be from the summary. It was more about the mystery of witches and sacrifices and magic. The narrator was breathy and affected. I was glad it was short.
Enjoyed the story and the way it's told from different characters point of view - including the dog. Only complaint it wrapped up too quickly. I was stilll ready for more story but the book was done. Focusing on different guard dogs might make a very interesting series.
All the flashbacks got tiresome. Very little of the story is set in the "present". If you've read the entire series (which we have) probably a 1/4 of the story was redundebt. Another 1/2 were stories from his boyhood or being in high school. The present story line was good but there wasn't enough. It was a small part of the story but having one of the characters being from my hometown (Red Wing, MN) was interesting.
You definitely have to read the first book in this series, Relic. There are many references to the first book and it would be confusing. Otherwishe, the story is OK - not great. I idd enjoy having the same cast of charcters as Relic. They kept the story interesting.
There are a lot of difficult names that make the book a little hard to follow but it was worth making the effort. Some of the torture was hard to listen to. This is an excellent narrator. Very articulate. Clancy tends to have diverse story lines that somehow he manages to tie together.
A plot that wasn't so predictable. 75% of the story the main characters were haviing sex here there and everywhere.
The sex scenes just got boring and nauseous.
No - too breathy.
The descriptions of the Sullivan family.
This story was a different genre than the usual John Grisham book. I'll always rea a John Grisham book.
Nora Krank - I like the way she took over when it was necessary.
Not sure I've listened to this narrator before.
Think twice before making decisions and how those decisions might affect others. Luther was extremely selfish. He was so focused on himself he didn't do things that would make others happy without altering his plans.
Be prepared to laugh but be frustrated with the main character.
