Welcome to the savage and surprising world of Zoo Story, an unprecedented account of the secret life of a zoo and its inhabitants, both animal and human. Based on six years of research, the book follows a handful of unforgettable characters at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo: an alpha chimp with a weakness for blondes, a ferocious tiger who revels in Obsession perfume, and a brilliant but tyrannical CEO known as El Diablo Blanco.

    Katherine says: "Excellent!"

What did you love best about Zoo Story?

This was a very exciting book, which explores the complicated relationship of zoos to conservation and the blurry grey areas of good and bad zoo keeping, and the problem of wild natural animals in civilized engineered human spaces. I really enjoyed the book and was pleased that it was very balanced in how zoos are good and bad.

What other book might you compare Zoo Story to and why?

Monsters of God By David Quamman

What about John Allen Nelson’s performance did you like?

it was not annoying. Nothing worse than a narrator who has an annoying voice.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

It had me from the beginning, when they were transporting a herd of elephants on a plane.I cried several times throughout the book.

    Any additional comments?

This book answers many questions and raises some as well, as far as how humans deal with and preserve animals.

From the larger, louder half of the world-famous magic duo Penn & Teller comes a scathingly funny reinterpretation of The Ten Commandments. They are The Penn Commandments, and they reveal one outrageous and opinionated atheist’s experience in the world.

Where does God, No! rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book is in the top two of audio books I have listened to.
I like contemplating god/less, my own personal morality, learning more about other cultures, Penn's life, and family, atheism, magic, I like that its not arrogant, but a personal tale of Penn navigating life and the universe and learning how to best be in the world for him.

It inspired me alot, and probably changed my life.

What other book might you compare God, No! to and why?

Arguably Hitchens: as far as why theology is problematic, but you will miss all the underwater sex, celebrity experiences, and magic and so on.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Extreme Elvis in the Swimming pool at Dawn in Vegas.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Penn talking about his mom and dad and sister, made me cry almost everytime.

    Any additional comments?

    I love you Penn!

In Wishful Drinking, Carrie Fisher tells the true and intoxicating story of her life with inimitable wit. Born to celebrity parents, she was picked to play a princess in a little movie called Star Wars when only 19 years old. "But it isn't all sweetness and light sabers."

Nick says: "An entertaining, yet unfortunate story."
"Mostly sad. I wanna give Carrie Fisher a hug."

What did you like best about Wishful Drinking? What did you like least?

Its an interesting heartbreaking story. I really wish her the best. I think her novels are better than her biography because this runs towards therapy and away from entertainment. I found it exhausting to listen to.
Knowing how badly Star Wars messed with her head kind of ruined the trilogy for me now.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

    Carrie is a great performer.

Was Wishful Drinking worth the listening time?

If you enjoy feeling uncomfortable and sad while reading, yes. I liked it enough, but I won't be listening to it again.

In September 1838, a young Englishman named Charles Darwin hit upon the idea that "natural selection" among competing individuals would lead to wondrous adaptations and species diversity. Twenty-one years passed between that epiphany and publication of On the Origin of Species. The human drama and scientific controversy of that time constitute a fascinating, tangled tale that illuminates this cautious naturalist who sparked an intellectual revolution.

J B Tipton says: "Darwin portrait."

Would you listen to The Reluctant Mr. Darwin again? Why?

This book covers some biographical details surrounding his life and his theories, and what they meant socially and culturally at the time. Packed with fun facts and contemplation true to David Quammen's writing.

What about Grover Gardner’s performance did you like?

He is a good reader, unobtrusive, pleasant to listen to.

At once wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, Ready Player One is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut—part quest novel, part love story, and part virtual space opera set in a universe where spell-slinging mages battle giant Japanese robots, entire planets are inspired by Blade Runner, and flying DeLoreans achieve light speed.

What did you love best about Ready Player One?

This book is a fairly predictable plot but the details are SO marvelous, you won't care. The genius is in the nostalgia, the real understanding of the effects of technology was we know it, and how gaming is loved.

What did you like best about this story?

    I can't think of anything I didn't like. seriously.

Which character – as performed by Wil Wheaton – was your favorite?

He was the most PERFECT narrator for this.He clearly understood the story on a personal level and reveled in it.
