Emilio Sandoz is a remarkable man, a living saint and Jesuit priest who undergoes an experience so harrowing and profound that it makes him question the existence of God. This experience - the first contact between human beings and intelligent extraterrestrial life - begins with a small mistake and ends in a horrible catastrophe.

When Kate, single mother and law firm partner, gets an urgent phone call summoning her to her daughter's exclusive private school, she's shocked. Amelia has been suspended for cheating, something that would be completely out of character for her over-achieving, well-behaved daughter. Kate rushes to Grace Hall, but what she finds when she finally arrives is beyond comprehension. Her daughter is dead.

This story was powerful and hit close to home as an educator. I see this drama all the time and it makes me so mad that kids continue to do hateful things to each other. If young ladies read this perhaps they will have a little empathy for their fellow humans instead of becoming a husk of a corpse that walks and talks with little to no emotional connection.

Victoria McQueen has an uncanny knack for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. When she rides her bicycle over the rickety old covered bridge in the woods near her house, she always emerges in the places she needs to be. Vic doesn't tell anyone about her unusual ability, because she knows no one will believe her. She has trouble understanding it herself.

Joe Hill is following in his father's footsteps while making his own. This book scared the crap out of me! I loved every minute of it and wished it went on forever.

"I thought things would change when I found the others. We would stop running. We would fight the Mogadorians. And we would win. But I was wrong. Even though we have come together, we barely escaped from the Mogadorians with our lives. And now we're in hiding, trying to figure out our next move. The six of us are powerful - but we're not yet strong enough to take on their entire army. We haven't discovered the full extent of our Legacies. We haven't learned to work together. And there's still so much that we don't know about the Elders or their plan for us."

  • Doctor Sleep: A Novel

Stephen King returns to the characters and territory of one of his most popular novels ever, The Shining, in this instantly riveting novel about the now middle-aged Dan Torrance (the boy protagonist of The Shining) and the very special 12-year-old girl he must save from a tribe of murderous paranormals. This is an epic war between good and evil, a gory, glorious story that will thrill the millions of hyper-devoted fans of The Shining and wildly satisfy anyone new to the territory of this icon in the King canon.

Stephen King can write! He pleased me from the beginning to the end of this book. I truly enjoy his storytelling and this narrator was top notch. I agree that you need to read "The Shining" before reading this because it helps make sense of many past issues these characters faced. Don't watch to movie because it does not follow the book. I read "The Shining" prior to this in order to refresh my memory and it made this read so much better. Thanks Stephen!

At once wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, Ready Player One is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut—part quest novel, part love story, and part virtual space opera set in a universe where spell-slinging mages battle giant Japanese robots, entire planets are inspired by Blade Runner, and flying DeLoreans achieve light speed.

Hand down this is the best book of the year for me! What a story! This is going to make an AMAZING movie and I really hope someone good does it! Anyone who grew up during the 1980s would totally get this book and I believe enjoy it! I am envious of anyone reading this for the first time.
