Bringing together all of the James Bond short stories in one volume for the first time, this is the ultimate celebration of suave and deadly secret agent 007. Whether he's making an unexpected discovery in the Bahamas, hunting down a Cuban hit man in wild country, smashing an international drug ring in Rome, or on the trail of a murderous assassin in Berlin's sniper alley, dangerous missions and beautiful women come with the job for James Bond. And this agent is always a consummate professional.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would probably recommend these to someone who is looking for a series of shorts that don't require much attention; as long as they're clear as to what they're getting. You've seen all of these stories as parts of full length James Bond stories. These barely stand on their own as presented and are in need of plot development, character development and closing.

It is 1910, the age of flying machines is still in its infancy, and newspaper publisher Preston Whiteway is offering $50,000 for the first daring aviator to cross America in less than 50 days. He is even sponsoring one of the prime candidates - an intrepid woman named Josephine Frost - and that's where Bell, chief investigator for the Van Dorn Detective Agency, comes in.

What did you like best about The Race? What did you like least?

I bought this book because it has airplanes in it and I like airplanes. Apart form that, the story line has all the gaps of a Louis L'Amour western, and any semblance to reality is an accident. Example: the protagonist, who taught himself to fly a more advanced airplane than any in existence, lands straddling the railroad tracks and tears the skids out from under the airplane. He commands the "mechanicians" to repair the skids and a half a page later is airborne. I only finished the book so I could hear the word mechanician some more.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Couldn't tell the Russian accent from the Italian accent.

Where does Pathfinder rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is a mind challenging book that might be easier to read than to listen to, but I thoroughly enjoyed the listen. I found myself rewinding the last 30 seconds on my iPad several times so I could pay closer attention to some detail I'd just missed. I will definitely listen to this audiobook a second time (at least) to find out how much I missed the first time through.

    Any additional comments?

This is a fairly fast moving story line that never made me feel like it was dragging along. Plot and character development are nicely managed without being ponderous. I like a good fantasy and enjoyed watching the two story lines converge at the conclusion of the book. I read the entire "Enders" series and this book goes in a distinctly different direction, but with the familiar touch of the author.

    I'm waiting on the sequel.

Stephen Coonts weaves three unforgettable tales of men and women at war with the sort of dramatic military action and undercover technology for which he is known. This novella collection gathers these three evocative tales from New York Times best-selling author Stephen Coonts into one cohesive audiobook. Here is Coonts doing what he does best.

Do you have any additional comments?

I bought this trilogy to get me from LA to Phoenix. It's a good book for a cross country drive. Not a lot of plot development or detail and doesn't require a lot of attention. It's worth the price for a one time listen. Dick Hill does an amazing woman's voice in "Al-Jihad". Enough language that I would have turned it off if I'd had kids in the car.
