Listening to this audiobook is a complete waste of time. It is poorly written; extremely poorly performed & there is no story. I bought it because of the hype...what a mistake.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

    very few...

Would you ever listen to anything by Jeffrey Archer again?

Yes, but it needs to be much better then this book was. What has happened to a very talented writer? This is more like a daytime soap, then an intelligently written book. This dribble seems to be a money grab by the author using his past successes to entice his readers to purchase more of his books.

What does Alex Jennings bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Mr. Jennings is a wonderful narrator. There should better material for him to narrate! He tries very hard to give life to these wooden character.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Be Careful What You Wish For?

I would not have cut, but instead added a recap of The Clifton Chronicles to refresh the reader. It's a year between each book. Does the author really believe one remembers who is who, details, character motivation or what transpired in the last books? I certainly did not. I think most readers do not. There should have been some refresher information included. For example, Mr. Archer never recounts why Martinez hates the Clifton family so vehemently. Thus, I never knew what motivated the villain in this book.

    Any additional comments?

The ending is terrible.....one has to wait a year for the next installment, to find out what happens. I think I shall not bother!!!! It's just down hill dribble!!

Mrs. Sookie Poole of Point Clear, Alabama, has just married off the last of her daughters and is looking forward to relaxing and perhaps traveling with her husband, Earle. The only thing left to contend with is her mother, the formidable Lenore Simmons Krackenberry. Lenore may be a lot of fun for other people, but is, for the most part, an overbearing presence for her daughter. Then one day, quite by accident, Sookie discovers a secret about her mother's past that knocks her for a loop and suddenly calls into question everything she ever thought she knew about herself, her family, and her future.

Has The All-Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion turned you off from other books in this genre?

    You bet!!!

What didn’t you like about Fannie Flagg’s performance?

She sound like she is just learning how to read. A 4th grader would have done a better job.

What character would you cut from The All-Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion?

    All of them!

    Any additional comments?

The story was really stupid. The characters reactions to their situation were not real. The narrator was just terrible even though she was reading material she wrote herself.Skip this book. I gave up listening half way thru. If I had a choice, I would have given this one 0 stars.

From the locked archives of the Vatican to the overgrown jungles of Ethiopia, an unlikely trio begins a deadly search for the Holy Grail. Two journalists and a beautiful photographer are traveling together in a broken down Jeep while covering the 1975 Ethiopian civil war. Both men fall in love with the woman and that complicates things. When the trio winds up lost in the jungle, in the no man's land between the fighting factions, they take cover and dig in for the night. In their hiding place, they encounter a dying man who tells them an amazing and quite unbelievable story. But for some reason - one that they grapple with for the rest of their journey - that night they believe.

Has The Quest turned you off from other books in this genre?

    no

What about Scott Brick’s performance did you like?

As good as he is, he could not save this one!!!! But he certainly made every effort.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Quest?

    The whole book!

    Any additional comments?

DeMille should have left this book behind in 1975, never to be read again by anyone! This is a story that does nothing and goes nowhere. It just drags the reader thru an endless jungle with dull characters who are poorly developed. I love DeMille's writing, but not this. Had it been the first of DeMille's books I read, it would have also been the last! I cannot believe this is the same author who wrote "Up Country" or "Word of Honor", just to mention 2 of his excellent books. There just is no comparison between those books and "The Quest". As another reviewer said, this was a money grab!!!

I could not stop listening to this book. Wonderful story that moves back & forth between WWII, the 1960's and the present. Caroline Lee, is an amazing narrator that gives life to the many characters with different voices & variations in their accents. This is a must read!!!! Enjoy!!!!

From master storyteller Bryce Courtenay comes a colorful, lusty story set in the 13th century, an epic tale of a Europe torn by religious intolerance. The story centers around Sylvia Honeyeater, who sings like an angel and can literally charm the birds from the trees. The narrative also features the Pied Piper of Hamelin, Francis of Assisi, the Muslim Sultan and his harem, and the fervor that becomes the Children's Crusade and then, later, the Crusades.

Would you try another book from Bryce Courtenay and/or Edwina Wren?

Love all of Courtenay's work!! Would happily listen to Wren if she would NOT use such phony accents.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Edwina Wren?

Wren is a good narrator when she speaks normally, but her accents her very poor and annoying!!
