Second in this series is as good as the first!!!
It's a must read & enjoy!!!
Is this really the same writer of the Harry Potter series? If so, where did all that writing talent go?
This book is dull, boring and tedious. And...totally predictable. I stayed with it in hopes that it would get better...NOT!
This is the second book of JKR's I've bought to after the HP series, and it's last last for me!!!!!
Bye, Bye JK Rowlings!
I love Alan Cumming! After listening to his memoir, spoken by 'himself', I love him even MORE!!!
This is an honest, deep and, often, very painful listen, but worth every minute!!!
To have survived such a brutal abusive childhood & come out as such a positive, successful person is a tribute to the strength he possess. Kudos, Alan Cumming!!!
(BTW, I love his real Scottish accent, too!!!)
Why bother translating this, is beyond me & then recording it for an audiobook. So dull & boring. Stories are silly in translation. The narrator's German (when he tries to speak German) is horrible.
If you want to record the Grimm Fairy Tales, then translate & record the LAST edition which would be the best, not this nonsense.
What a soap opera!!! I cannot believe this was written by the same author of 'The Silent Sister' or 'Breaking the Silence'.
I could barely give this nonsense 1 star! Take my advice, skip this one!! What a waste of time!!
The performance also left me wanting...especially when the narrator tried to use a New England accent which sounded as if uneducated people were speaking when the characters came from upper class, educated families. The attempt was to sound like a Kennedy speaking....didn't work!!!!
This is a very well written and very well performed book. Kudos & 5 stars to the narrators.
I loved all the well researched information concerning elephants. We learn much about the similarity between elephant & human behavior. Yet the book is not about elephants alone. It also deals with a child's need for it's mother and a mother's need & love for her child. The book is as well written & interesting, as many of Picoult other books making important statements concerning our society. However, I found the ending of this story extremely strange (no spoilers here). I will say no more, though!! Come to your own conclusions.
I enjoyed this story. I could not stand the narrator when she used her "faux" accents. At times she would also speed up her reading for no apparent reason. Had she just read in her normal voice instead of "trying" to use phony accents & deeper voices, the whole listen would have been far more enjoyable, but....instead it was really annoying and spoiled much of the listening experience.

Found this very dull. Just did not hold my attention & i do know it was on the bestseller list.
There was really no story, just characters constantly on the move who unexpectedly meet up with each other in different locations.
That it did not compare to the excellence of her other books in this series. I think she released this new book in the series to coincide with the TV production of The Outlander, as a $$$ grab!
She is a wonderful narrator who I could listen to, on & on. But, not even her amazing skills can save this audible book.
All of them!
I was extremely disappointed in this book!!
Yes, but it needs to be much better then this book was. What has happened to a very talented writer? This is more like a daytime soap, then an intelligently written book. This dribble seems to be a money grab by the author using his past successes to entice his readers to purchase more of his books.
Mr. Jennings is a wonderful narrator. There should better material for him to narrate! He tries very hard to give life to these wooden character.
I would not have cut, but instead added a recap of The Clifton Chronicles to refresh the reader. It's a year between each book. Does the author really believe one remembers who is who, details, character motivation or what transpired in the last books? I certainly did not. I think most readers do not. There should have been some refresher information included. For example, Mr. Archer never recounts why Martinez hates the Clifton family so vehemently. Thus, I never knew what motivated the villain in this book.
The ending is terrible.....one has to wait a year for the next installment, to find out what happens. I think I shall not bother!!!! It's just down hill dribble!!
