I didn't care for this book as a matter of fact I didn't even finish it. While the beginning was promising enough it quickly turned with the heronine forgiving the hero too quick for his sins against her. The bad guy was nothing more then a set up for the next book. Had this book not been part of a deal when I got it I would return it.
The narrator over dramatizes everything. Where oh where is Kristen Potter?
I love JD Tylers books but will read any others that are narrated by Marguerite Gavin.
It's just awful. She is the wrong narrator for this series because of her poor performance I will never get another book narrated by her.
No, read this one if you're a fan of the series.
I adore this series! I have recommend every book in this series. I've always had a thing for Hauk. He melted my heart and Sumi won me over quickly. Sherrilyn somehow remembers all the little details from previous books! I lmao when Nyk says how they used to tell Kiara that Hauk wore womens underpants.
Born of Night where this series began!
Fred Berman is my favorite male narrator. He sure didn't disappoint with Born of Fury!
There was a number of spots in this book. When Hauk went after Kalea and she told him that "She always knew he Daddy would come for her." OMG and when Fain saw Sumi I about face planted. Her recollections of Fain showed a depth to Fain that I am sure must people never see. Fain won my heart and I can't wait for his happy ending. Darice, Hauk and Fain finally being a family! When Fain touched his nephew for the first time. When Sumi said she would scarfice herself for her daughter to be safe. When Sumi proved to Hauk that his scares didn't bother her. So many... I need to go back and listen again!
I loved this book. It is full of those little moments and shorter romances.
My favorite of the stories is Stroke of Enticement but they are all good.
The storyline was very good. I love Robyn Carr books because they show the community as a whole while focusing on a couple or couples.
This book is one of my all time favorites! Coming from this book junkie that means something, lol.
Preacher, John Middleton is by far one of my favorite characters. I just have a thing for big scary looking men that turn to mush only for their women and children.
She does the childrens voices very well.
I read the first two books out of order. I wanted to see if I liked Robyn Carr's writing style and Shelter Mountain appealed to me more then Virgin River. This was a good solid start to the series. I really like Mel and Jack. The cast of charters is lively and unique.
I've loved P.J. from The Darkest Hour, the first book in the KGI series. The story starts out with one night of smokin' hot sex. This heroine is strong, takes no prisoners and takes no crap for anyone or that is what she projects to the rest of the world. Cole isn't exactly your average hero either. He struggles with wanting to coddle and protect her but also leaving her enough space so not to injure P.J's pride. I do wish the book was a bit longer, I would've liked to have seen more of Cole, P.J. as well as the rest of the characters from the other books in the series. As much as I liked the ending I couldn't help but think that it was missing something. Yes, the bad guys are gone and KGI triumphed in the end but things will never be the same for P.J. or the men that tried so hard to save her but couldn't. Maybe Maya will gift us with a novella somewhere down the line that will tell us how P.J. is dealing with things.
I cried more during this book then any other in recent memory. The angst factor is really high in this book. After I was done I went right over and picked up a fluff read, His Teddy Bear by Eve Langlais. I needed that read after the emotional roller coaster of Shades of Gray.
I wasn't crazy about the narrator. He wasn't bad but not really good either maybe I just got spoiled by Fred Berman. He does such a good female voice. Once I got used to Adam Paul he was ok.
“ Amazing! This book not only told Darlings and Zarya very complex relationship but tells the story of Darlings abusive childhood. The Sentella is back in action in this book. We get to catch up and visit with the core Sentella members but with their families and other favorites from the series.
This is just my kind of book! I loved it. I have read all of this series and can't wait for January for the next book to come out!
