  • Winter Study: An Anna Pigeon Mystery

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 27 mins)
    • By Nevada Barr
    • Narrated By Barbara Rosenblat

It is January, and Park Ranger Anna Pigeon is sent to Isle Royale in Lake Superior to learn about managing and understanding wolves, as her home base of Rocky Mountain National Park might soon have its own pack of the magnificent, much-maligned animals. But what was once an idyllic refuge becomes a place of unnatural occurrences and danger beyond the ordinary.

    W. Black says: "Perhaps better than reading it"
    "Excellent book and Narration!"

This book and narration is terrific! Ms. Rosenblat is the perfect voice for Anna, and always has been. She does a terrific job on the other characters, too. Her voices cause me to see the characters.

Winter Study is an excellent story. I was disappointed that the setting was a park in which Anna already worked, but it is a perfect place for the story. Anna's detective skills have never been better, and with the characters with which she was working, they had to be! So far, this is my favorite Anna Pigeon story, and I can't wait for the next one.

  • The Cold Moon

    • UNABRIDGED (15 hrs and 6 mins)
    • By Jeffery Deaver
    • Narrated By Joe Mantegna
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

On a freezing December night, with a full moon hovering in the black sky over New York City, two people are brutally murdered, the death scenes marked by eerie, matching calling cards: moon-faced clocks investigators fear ticked away the victims' last moments on earth. Renowned criminologist Lincoln Rhyme immediately identifies the clock distributor and has the chilling realization that the killer, who has dubbed himself the Watchmaker, has more murders planned in the hours to come.

    Laura says: "Another great puzzle!"
    "A Terrific Rhyme Novel"

This is a terrific story with many twists in the "Deaver" style. The reader creates wonderful voices for the characters, and I didn't want to stop listening.

  • The Hot Flash Club Chills Out

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 41 mins)
    • By Nancy Thayer
    • Narrated By Carrington Macduffie
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Since opening up their day spa, The Haven, the wonderful women of the Hot Flash Club have been busy indulging the beleaguered, nerve-frazzled throngs. Now, in Nancy Thayer's hilarious new Hot Flash novel, it's the friends' turn to grab some soothing, and much-deserved R&R.

Pamela says: "Enjoyable, light, and I can identify!!"
    "Too much uninteresting detail"

I enjoyed the narrator, and I enjoyed the other Hot Flash Club books. However, this one is slow. There is too much discussion about what the characters bought when shopping, and not enough about the characters and their lives. Also, this story did not contain as much action as the other stories. I'm not talking "Die Hard" action, just eventful action.

  • Earthsearch: The Complete Radio Series I and II (Dramatized)

    • ORIGINAL (9 hrs and 39 mins)
    • By James Follett
    • Narrated By Full Cast

The acclaimed BBC Radio 4 space drama arrives in its entirety for the very first time, with a bonus introduction by creator and writer James Follett. The starship Challenger has been on a 115-year-long mission, exploring other galaxies for suitable Earth-like planets to colonise. The present crew of four were born on the ship and have never left it. But when the Challenger attempts to return to the crew's home planet, it discovers that the Earth has vanished!

    Scott says: "Excellent Radio Play"
    "A Wonderful Listen"

This is a great story and definitely worth a listen. The story and cast deserve 5 stars. However, the sound effects are a bit loud. No problem for me as I listen in the car during my commute, and when the sounds are too loud (mostly between episodes) I just reduced the volume. I tried different equalizer settings, but those sound effects were just loud. The characters were easily heard to me, and the cast did a terrific job playing their roles. So, don't miss this fun adventure!

  • Tales of Space and Time

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 35 mins)
    • By H.G. Wells
    • Narrated By Walter Covell, Ivor Hugh

Enjoy stories of the past and the future by the author of The Time Machine and The War of the Worlds. This collection includes The Star, The Crystal Egg, Stories of the Stone Age, A Story of the Days to Come and The Man Who Could Work Miracles.

Elizabeth says: "Classic stories but unexciting narrator"
    "Classic stories but unexciting narrator"

I'll admit, I've only listened to the first couple of stories. However, the narrator was monotonous to the point that I lost track of the story because my mind was wandering. The stories are good, but you have to be able to concentrate on them. I couldn't listen to this while driving.

  • 2nd Chance: The Women's Murder Club

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 40 mins)
    • By James Patterson, Andrew Gross
    • Narrated By Melissa Leo, Jeremy Piven
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Master of suspense James Patterson continues the Women's Murder Club series with this nail-biter of a sequel to 1st to Die. Four women - a police detective, an assistant D.A., a journalist, and a medical examiner - combine their efforts, risking everything, to catch a serial killer. "As with Patterson's best novels," Booklist says, "the surprises keep coming until the final pages."

    Jean says: "Painful pastime"
    "Needs a different Narrator"

First to Die was an excellent "read" with a terrific narrator. This story was good, but the narrator detracted from the story. If time permits, read the book and skip this audio.

  • Finding Your Sacred Contract

    • UNABRIDGED (4 hrs and 30 mins)
    • By Caroline Myss
    • Narrated By Caroline Myss

This workshop, recorded live in Chicago, Illinois, focuses on how to find your life's mission, or "Sacred Contract." By coming to know your mission, you can live your life in a way that makes best use of your energy. Finding out where you invest your energetic currency can show you how to manage your power as opposed to being managed by it.

    Gene says: "Visual required"
    "Needs visuals"

Ditto from the other reviewer that wrote that visuals were needed. Caroline does not describe the chart she is pointing to, so you cannot visualize the chart. However, I think that this lecture is a good introduction to her book and her work.
