Mine Till Midnight is the first book in the Hathaway's series, and it is a book you will not want to put down. I would definitely recommend it to any of my adult friends.
Lisa has a gift for developing very likable characters, that as a reader, you begin to invest your time in getting to know. I love this family of misfits! They are precious, and funny, and loyal. They love each other as a family should, with "warts and all".
Rosalyn Landor delivers another amazing performance. Her voices are believable and her story telling is captivating.
This book is definitely worth the credit..Enjoy!
If you are in the mood for some Christmas Spirit, A Cedar Cove Christmas by Debbie Macomber is just the ticket! Definitely credit worthy! Make a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy!
Wild Man by Kristen Ashley is actually a very good story that held my attention throughout. A strong complaint though is the severe usage of profanity. Perhaps this SUBSTANTIAL practice is supposed to be indicative of inhabitants of “the hood," where the story takes place; but I found it to be off-putting and disturbing to the detriment of the listening enjoyment. I am not opposed to colorful language when it is used to carry forth a story, however, the constant bombardment of f-bombs, I believe, damaged the quality of this author’s work, and therefore, limited the target audience and as a result, book sales.
Brock and Tessa are quality characters, despite their apparent lack of vocabulary. Not your typical hero, and first lady of romance. I liked them. The fact that Brock isn’t wealthy or a loner is refreshing. He is a strong; take charge kind of guy, all about family; dealing with all sorts of family trauma with solid and resilient family ties always in tact. Tessa is a beautiful and compassionate sweetheart. She is a peacemaker with little family left. Together, they are pretty adorable, with the exception, of course of their language. My rating would have been higher had it not been for this objection. While I liked the characters and story, I would be embarrassed to recommend.
Credit Worthy, Definitely!!
Fall in love with the Grayson brothers, while traveling back to the post-Civil War era of the late 1800’s.
How does a family recover and heal from the devastating consequences of surviving a war you may ask…with varying shades of honor. WOW.
Shades of Honor: Grayson Brothers, Book 1 is a beautifully written, old-fashioned love story. Wendy Lindstrom has gifted her readers with well-developed storyline and characters that are strong, and passionate. They live with a purpose for distinction, and yet they also struggle with this high moral code. Their commitment to family is everything to them, and yet that very commitment is shakable. They are defined by their desire for integrity, uprightness, and, character...
...And this...is what our greatest heroes are made of…
I really enjoyed this listen. You will too.
Revenge at Bella Terra by Christina Dodd (Book 2) is even better than “Secrets” (Book 1), earning a 5 star overall rating from me!
“Revenge” is the story of Eli and Chloe, serious opposites who are seriously adorable. I really loved these characters. They were complex and simple all at the same time; funny and intelligent. The oldest Di Luca brother graced with the Di Luca Family charm, and Chloe, an only child, full of spirit and whit.
The second installment of the Bella Terra series far exceeded my expectations. The mystery continues to develop, as the family members, in particular, Eli and Chloe, are once again the targets of lurking dangers surrounding the family secret. Carol Monda is the narrator again, as in book 1. I gave her 4 stars this time (last time- only 3). Her voices could still vary more between characters, but for some reason, it didn’t seem to bother me as much as before.
Definitely credit worthy! Next book…”Betrayal at Bella Terra”, Book3...I cannot wait…Enjoy!
The first installment to the Bella Terra series by Christina Dodd is a captivating introduction to the intriguing Di Luca family; including three Di Luca brothers, raised by their beloved matriarch and grandmother. Their loyalty to each other; their complete devotion to their grandmother, and their commitment to preserve their family heritage, defines them.
An exciting, mysterious family secret that began more than 80 years ago is the catalyst to the dangers and hostilities that have resulted from years and generations of Italian families feuding. And of course there is romance, passion, conflict, and love.
Carol Monda’s performance was good, but didn’t vary enough to be able to identify each character by voice. While there are other narrators who are better at changing voices for each character, the story is worth the listen.
Definitely credit worthy and planning to jump right into “Revenge at Bella Terra”, Book 2! Enjoy!
Everything in its Time: by Dee Davis is a mesmerizing, and gripping novel that will captivate you from the first pages. You will not be able to put it down, being tempted to listen far into the night.
The characters are well developed; each establishing a relationship with the reader. Some are likeable and some, not so much…whether you like them, loathe them, fear them, or cheer for them, they are memorable and you will find yourself thinking about them long after the experience is completed.
There are several twists in this amazing plot and the journey will be well worth the credit. I am looking forward to more from this author.
Ugh…I usually love Julie Garwood, and while I hate to be negative, Castles, the 4th installment of the “Crown’s Spies” series, was a real disappoint. The story of Colin, and Princess Alesandra just did not measure up to the quality of storytelling that readers have been conditioned to expect.
In the first three books, Colin was a very appealing character, and I was looking forward to his story, but in Castles, he was selfish, bitter, angry, and basically unappealing. As per formula, he comes around in the end to “save the day”, but it was too little-too late for me.
I actually hated the narration. Heather Wilds’ attempt to change character voices and accents was almost too painful to finish the listen. Unfortunately, the enjoyment of an audible experience is largely dependent on the quality of the narration.
Skip this one. You won’t miss much.
The Gift, by Julie Garwood, is the wonderfully, romantic story of Nathan, the Marquess of St. James, and Sara Winchester. I enjoyed this book, as narrated by Susan Duerden, and found it to be an absolutely captivating third installment to JG’s: Crown Spies Series.
Sara is young, and a romantic, at heart. Those of us who love a great romantic tale will fall in love with her and be able to relate to her “rose-colored-glasses” view of the world, where she wants to believe she lives.
Nathan, of course, on the other hand is a strong, possessive, warrior of few words; making them perfectly entertaining characters, involved in a funny, adventure.
Definitely Credit Worthy!
Guardian Angel: Crown's Spies Book 2, by Julie Garwood, is another amazing story narrated by Susan Duerden! Ms. Garwood's talent consistently maintains the highest level of skill and integrity as she weaves her adventure with just the right amount of comedy, and breathless sensuality. You will love this!
Definitely Credit Worthy!
"Down to You" is the first novel by M. Leighton that I have read. I purchased the first two in this series during a book sale. All in all it is a fairly good story, but one that I found to be lacking, and not living up to my expectations. I found it to be both predictable, and in some places, worthy of dramatic eye rolls.
This novel is rather short, and in this particular case, resulted in a rather shallow book. The characters are not very well developed, and therefore, the relationships aren't either.
I enjoyed the dual narration, though, and was able to finish the listen.
I will, at some point listen to the second book in the series, simply because I already purchased it, however, if I hadn't, it would not make it to my wish list.
This novel is for mature audiences: Strong sexual content.
