"An eye opener"
This is a very important book for those women who always felt something was missing in thier lives ... that they didn't have a normal childhood ... that thier moms were different ... women who whatever they did thier moms never seemed to be pleased ...
This book helps you realize the problem ... face your denial ... make peace with your past and accept reality ... then start the journey towrds healing ...just make sure to take your time and do as the books says ... don't be tempted to skip anything
The author herslef was a victim of a narcassit mother so she knows what she's talking about ...and not only i found the book extremely helpful but the soothing voice of the author and narrator made a great deal of difference
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
"Speechless"
Not only is the book totally amazing ... the story ... the characters ... life lessons ..etc
everything about Elliot's novels is just fantastic ... the narrator is without a doubt the best there is ... many times throughout my listen i even forgot that it was a single narrator ... Juliet stevenson is so talanted ... so passionate and just plain FANTASTIC
"Couldn't get myself to finish it"
I love books about travelling and finding one's self ... i love books about achieving one's childhood dreams ... i just don't think this book is one of them ... i guess unless you are a sailor who is interested in the subject of sailing this book would seem too far off ... i hardly ever put a book down ... only the one's i cannot stomach ... i wasn't able to go through this audio book ... not because it was bad or anything ... just not for me ...
Lately i am having a hard time finding good travelling and adventure books on audible ... this and "all over the map" which was about a whining single woman dying to find a man and is not REALLY interested in travelling as much as she would like us to think ( i reviewd this book earlier) would top my list of the worst books of the month ...
sorry for being so harsh
"A travelling book?"
The book is amusing and won't make you bored but i doubt it has anything to do with travelling or discovering one's self ... it's a book about how the author is so desperate to find a man and a describtion of her affairs ... there is no information about the places she goes to ... nothing about her journey of self discovery (which was non existant) ... she is a woman who can afford travel ... very stubborn and doesn't seem to want to learn from her mistakes ... and keeps going on and on about men ... she is so dependant on men for someone who describes herself as a feminist ...
i found in some parts of the book that she had no respect for "certain" cultures ... for example she was harrassed by a man in egypt .. so she speaks ill of muslims and egyptian men and culture ... but then she was raped in samoa ... yet she considers this to be a matter that isn't related to the country and the people (which is true)... this "seasoned" traveller strikes me as the "average" American TOURSIT (no offense intended)
I am someone who loves to travel and i consider my self foot loose ... so i was really angered discovering that she travels because it's what she does (even though she doesn't say it plainly) ... all she wants is to get married and have children ... very strange for someone who keeps reminding us - because we tend to forget - that she is super adventerous and strong ...
In a travel book i really missed the travel part ... other than the food and men the whole travel thing is nearly non - existant ...
i don't want to be harsh ... but don't bother with her book ...
"Simple ... but really good"
A very simple theme ... an amusing story ... and an absolutely deep ending ... the difference between the concept of living and mere surviving ... would recommend it to anyone
"Disappointed"
This was my first encounter with Pema Chodorn and due to her reputation i was extremely excited .... i thought i would find some answers ... some wisdom ... but far from it ... i found this speech to be mediocre to say the least ... i am saying it was useless or a waste of time and money - it's not- it's just not that useful ... and i have to strongly disagree with all the glowing reviews of this "speech" ...
This book also lead me to read about Pema's master and i must admit i was shocked ... i am sure this has nothing to do with the speech or her books but still i was puzzled ...
"Love it"
Short ... simple ... amusing and to the point ... it's a very good listen for those who need to start writing or begin with any project ... funny at times ... but inspiring always ... worth your time and money
"Brilliant"
This is a really really good book ... it's not a self help book ... it's written after years of study and personal experience ... i found so much sense and wisdom in the words of Dr.Neff ... i can honestly say it's one of the best books i have ever read on the subject ... it altered the way i see things drastically ... i feel happier and a better person after reading this book ... it's a book that one would listen to more than once ... recommended
"A great book"
You will love Melody Beattie ... this book opened so many doors to me as well as helped me resolve so much of my problems ... i began to view things differently ... this book changed my life ... highly recommended
"An excellent book"
Simple ... it's how i describe this books ... while listening to it i felt like i was sitting and talking to Dr.Brown herself ... the book is very personal and i found it very inspiring and mind chaging ... i learned alot from it
"Average"
I am not saying this is a bad book ... it's just not what i have expected ... though filled with useful info i thought it was completely centered on money and business regardless of one's talents and dreams...
