If you enjoy gross but funny cop stories, listening to J.A. Konrath books read by Hill and Dawe are a must. I wonder where Konrath comes up with some of the gross detail and yet he can be so very witty. You will cringe and laugh at these short stories. It is a nice touch to have personal notes by Konrath attached to each story.

If history really belongs to the victor, what happens when there's more than one side declaring victory? That's the conundrum Norman Davies unravels in his groundbreaking book No Simple Victory. Far from being a revisionist history, No Simple Victory instead offers a clear-eyed reappraisal, untangling and setting right the disparate claims made by America, Great Britain, France, and the Soviet Union in order to get at the startling truth.

My dad was in WW 2 and would NEVER talk about it, after listening to this book I know why. It is hard for me to wrap my brain around what took place. The numbers quoted in this book are staggering! The torture incomprehensible!
I keep thinking about the protesters complaining about the U.S. using water boarding!!

Andy Barber has been an assistant district attorney in his suburban Massachusetts county for more than 20 years. He is respected in his community, tenacious in the courtroom, and happy at home with his wife, Laurie, and son, Jacob. But when a shocking crime shatters their New England town, Andy is blindsided by what happens next: his 14-year-old son is charged with the murder of a fellow student.

Andy, Laura, narrated by Grover and the style of the writing I kept wondering if William Landay is actually David Rosenfelt. I would have enjoyed this book a lot more if I didn't love the Andy Carpenter series so much. I felt the only things missing in this book was some humor and Tara.

Remember the twin golden rules of hitchhiking? #1: Don’t go hitchhiking, because the driver who picks you up could be certifiably crazy. #2: Don’t pick up hitchhikers, because the traveler you pick up could be certifiably crazy. So what if, on some dark, isolated road, Crazy #1 offered a ride to Crazy #2?Newly expanded, Serial Uncut is more horrific than ever, so proceed at your own risk. If you suffer from anxiety attacks, nervous disorders, insomnia, nightmares or night terrors, heart palpitations, stomach problems, or are of an overly sensitive nature, you should listen to something else.

My husband kept saying "I can't believe we are listening to this!' We cringed, shuddered and kept wondering how people can think this stuff up to write, YUCK!!! But, we were cracking up at the end.
I haven't read Crouch or Kilborn, love and know how sick and funny Konrath. If you don't mind listening about creeps, eating faces or pealing eyelids off of victims then help your self to this book.

Over the course of his legal career, Andy Carpenter has lost a few cases. But that doesn't mean he forgets his clients. Andy has always been convinced that Joey Desimone, a man convicted of murder nine years ago, was innocent and believes that Joey's family's connections to organized crime played a pivotal role in his conviction. While there isn't much Andy can do for him while he serves out his prison sentence, Joey suggests that he check up on Joey's elderly uncle.

When linguist Andrew Dennison is yanked from his bed by the Secret Service and taken to a top secret facility in the desert, he has no idea he’s been brought there to translate the words of an ancient demon. He joins pretty but cold veterinarian Sun Jones, eccentric molecular biologist Dr. Frank Belgium, and a hodge-podge of religious, military, and science personnel to try and figure out if the creature is, indeed, Satan. But things quickly go bad, and very soon Andy isn’t just fighting for his life, but the lives of everyone on earth.

I have never been a Sci-Fi fan but I love J. A. Konrath's Jack Danial series so I thought I would give some of Konrath's other works a try. I was hooked on the first chapter! I was surprised the book has a lot of depth to it and I enjoyed getting to know the characters. Luke Daniels does a fantastic job narrating, especially on Bub!
If you don't know of Konrath, his books are not for the squeamish lots of gore for some people! I'm funny, I can read about gore but can't see it.
This book has to continue because I'm looking forward to # 2!!!!!

This has to be the funnest and grossest book in the series. I was howling when the rat ate McGlade's favorite chopped off finger (middle one of course)! Do not buy the series if you are looking for a good mystery or true to life story line. These books are full of silly puns, unbelievable stories and will make you laugh and grossed out at the same time.
Sample the narrators first, but I love the voices of Susie and Dick. I can't get enough of the series.

Good Morning America viewers have come to know and love Lucimarian Roberts, the 88-year-old mother of coanchor Robin Roberts. On the day after Hurricane Katrina blew through the Gulf Coast, they watched Robin, standing amid the remnants of her hometown, recount the desperate search for her mother - and her return to safety. Robin was not surprised to learn that even as the winds howled and floodwaters rose, Lucimarian sang hymns....

I bought the book because I like Robin Roberts but didn't read what the book was about. I assumed it was more to do with the kids growing up. I'm not religious so I had no interest in listening to hymns being sung. That being said I'm sure that is what got them through the times of segregation with such a possessive attitude.
It is a positive book so if you are of a religious faith and like listening to hymns this book is for you.

If you want a book that is not violent, not many curse words
(I think they say the F bomb once), sex, drugs, humor, or action this book is for you.
The story was good just not full of anything that would put me on the edge of my seat.
I have to say that I'm not keen on women narrators, sorry, a lot of women use funny voices for the man parts, (they seem to try to hard) but I think Deborah did a great job and did not grate on my nerves.
I was hoping for more to motivate me in the series, but I may try the second book in the series.

The wildest story in the world these days is not fiction; it's what's really happening all around us as the world's global economy has gone into freefall. How did we get here? What does it all mean? How could so many smart people be so dumb and believe their own hype? Accessibly, cleverly, and with mordant humor, journalist John Lanchester trots the globe in search of the answers to these questions.

Ted Kerasote met and adopted Merle, a Labrador mix, while he was on a camping trip. Merle had been living in the wild, and after taking the dog home with him to Wyoming, Kerasote soon realized that Merle could not adjust to inhabiting exclusively the human world. So he put a door in his house to let Merle live both outside and in. A deeply touching portrait of a remarkable animal, Merle's Door explores the issues that all animals and their human companions face.

Even though this book is written well, I never developed a bond toward Merle or the writer. The book is full of basic information on dog behavior written about every day human and dog activities, nothing really exciting. For example it was obvious what Merle's reaction would be to the doggie door, dog house and the white German Shepard before the author got to that part of the story, very basic dog behavior. It bothered me that the writer would tell you exactly what was on Merle's mind and what Merle was saying. If you love, live and are observant of your dog's behavior you don't need to spend your time or money on this book.
The book seemed long to me but if you do not understand dog behavior I would recommend the book.
