Gail Carriger created a fascinating steampunk vision of Victorian England in her “intoxicatingly witty” (Publishers Weekly, starred review) debut novel Soulless—the first in the best-selling Parasol Protectorate series. Changeless is the second in the series and finds Alexia Tarabotti, now the Lady Woolsey, quite put out after her werewolf husband goes missing. So, armed with her trusty parasol, Alexia boards a dirigible and heads for Scotland to find him.

What did you love best about Changeless?

I was expecting to be board by the whole married life part of the story, but I was shocked! The book was so exciting! A must read/listen in the series.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Channing Channing of the Chesterfield Channings. Read the first few pages and I think you will understand why!

What about Emily Gray’s performance did you like?

Emily Gray is amazing! She's a very talented voice actor. The most impressive part for me is accuracy of the accents she uses and her ability to go from one to another seamlessly. I really enjoy her performances. I have listened to a few other audio books that are steam punk and if they had been read by her I would have enjoyed the other books much better.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The end but I don't wan to spoil it. It was very shocking and leaves you wanting to read/listen to the last book.

Gail Carriger’s best-selling Parasol Protectorate series reimagines Victorian England with vampires, werewolves, and a dash of steampunk. Blameless is the third in the series starring the parasol-wielding Lady Alexia Maccon, formerly Alexia Tarabotti. After news spreads of her delicate condition—a surprise to everyone since she’s married to a werewolf—Alexia is desperate to escape the London gossip. So she heads to Italy for a change of scenery.

Would you consider the audio edition of Blameless to be better than the print version?

I really love hearing Emily Gray voice all of these wonderful characters.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Hard to say, I think Channing is still my favorite character. He's a small part but ads so much!

Have you listened to any of Emily Gray’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Emily Gray is amazing! I have listened to her in the previous books and she is just so talented! She brings so much to the characters!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not to give anything away, but the final fight really said something to me. The way Alexia's friends came together and made their own fighting force was really impacting!

    Any additional comments?

I really love this series, I have given the hard copy books to three friends and they have all loved it!

Victorian romance mixes seamlessly with elegant prose and biting wit—and werewolves—in Gail Carriger’s delightful debut novel. Soulless introduces Alexia Tarabotti, a parasol-wielding Londoner getting dangerously close to spinster status. But there are more important things than finding a husband. For Alexia was born without a soul, giving her the ability to render any vampire or werewolf completely powerless.

If you could sum up Soulless in three words, what would they be?

An old world take on a flirty and fun romance with a touch of violence.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Soulless?

Oh gosh I wouldn't want to give anything away!

What does Emily Gray bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The different voices in this audio book have been incredibly entertaining and her accents are wonderful!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The first time he kissed her. :)

    Any additional comments?

I absolutely love this book! I can't wait to listen to the second book!
