"Great Background for the series!"
Loved the narrator on this book. His voices really lend to the story. I actually wondered if there was more than one narrator. The story really built the background for the other stories and gave you an interesting look at Clayton and Jeremy.
"Good story, bad sound"
Both of the books I have gotten by John Simpson have good stories but it sounds like they are recorded in an echo chamber. I wish they would be recorded under better circumstances!
"Loved it!"
It took me about a chapter to start really understanding the character dynamics and I was hooked! This book rocks and I am only disappointed that I can't listen to the others.
"Loved it!"
I loved this and am only sad that I have to wait til September for the sequel!
"Amazing!"
I was introduced to the series by my younger sister who was right when she said I would love it. I was thrilled to see it on audio and although it was bittersweet as my sister has since lost her battle with breast cancer, I decided I would listen to it in her honor! I am so glad I did. Patrick Lawlor did a fabulous job with the embattled brothers. I can only hope that we see more! Not only do you get the love of two brothers but a battle between the good and bad, made more difficult when one of the brothers teeters on both sides! You won't regret listening!
"Wow!"
I really debated this one! I am so glad I decided yes. First, I understood going in that it would be one of three so knew I would be left hanging. The length was well worth it. You get to love, hate, and understand the characters in the novel. You realize that, like real life, you never know for sure who will live and die and you come to understand that it makes this story as compelling as it is. It was so incredibly worth it. Can't wait for more.
"Really enjoyed this book."
I really liked this book. It was worth the credit. It was a little out there for the premise but it made for a great story that kept me listening to the end. I actually wished that I could learn more about the outcome when I was done. Made me want more.
"great book bad narration"
I have listened to all of Andrew Grey's books and really love them but this time the narrator struggled often and nothing was fixed. He repeated himself often and even coughed and cleared his nose. It was irritating. It was like the narrator didn't care how bad he did. This is really a shame because the story is better than that.
"An amazing story!"
I loved this story. Even with the "muppet" voice for some of the side characters, this book was funny and tender. I loved both the main characters. I have another audio by Mary Calmes and cant wait to hear more from her.
"I wish I could rate this less!"
Of all the books I have purchased, this is the absolute worst. I am a "bleeding heart liberal" but I have no trouble reading a book with a right wing view. This book was so prejudiced with a survivalist point of view that I couldn't get past the politics to find the story. If you aren't a survivalist, you probably won't find much to enjoy with this book. The author seems to hate left wing, right wing, everyone but the wonderful survivalist who live in an ideal world that suits gun-carrying moral survivalists who all believe that the rest of the world is wrong. Don't bother!
"Don't ignore because of reviews"
I put off buying this book because of the reviews saying the narration was terrible. I disagree. I didn't find it distracting at all. Some of the voices weren't great but I thought the author did a good job with it. If you like this genre, get this book because it is worth it.
