Olivia's parents had been one of Hollywood's glittering golden couples...until the night the monster came. The monster who destroyed their beautiful home and took her mother away from her forever. The monster with the face of her father. Now a young woman, Olivia has a chance to confront her tragic past - and the longings of her own lonely heart. But before she can confront her past, she must safeguard her future.

I did. I really wanted to like this book...but it just dragged on and on and had I not been on a long road trip with no other options - I would have given up in the first hour or two. Not nearly exciting enough to hold my attention and it lacked the twists, turns and intrigue I've come to expect from Nora Roberts. Not her best work....

Dr. Emory Charbonneau, a pediatrician and marathon runner, disappears on a mountain road in North Carolina. By the time her husband Jeff, miffed over a recent argument, reports her missing, the trail has grown cold. Literally. Fog and ice encapsulate the mountainous wilderness and paralyze the search for her. While police suspect Jeff of "instant divorce," Emory, suffering from an unexplained head injury, regains consciousness and finds herself the captive of a man whose violent past is so dark that he won't even tell her his name.

This was my first Sandra Brown book and it won't be my last!
I was getting frustrated with books that I couldn't get into or that has lousy narrators and I gave this one a shot - was I ever glad I did! It's beautifully written and brilliantly read! Sucked me in from the start and kept me guessing right to the very end. And when it ended, I was so bummed - I didn't want it to be over!
I'm back for more Sandra Brown books!!

Number-one New York Times best-selling author Harlan Coben set huge sales records with last year’s Six Years - and he’s poised to do it again in his next breathtaking stand-alone thriller. Harlan Coben, author of six consecutive instant number-one New York Times best sellers and a total of 24 award-winning, best-selling, and internationally acclaimed novels, returns with another ripped-from-real-life thriller full of impossibly high emotional stakes and the real-to-life characters for which he has become famous.

This book was the perfect combination of twists, turns, intrigue and mystery to hook me fast and keep me listening. Add to that a great narrator and it's a 5 star in my opinion!

In a bold novel, Harlan Coben (Tell No One) continues to stake out new ground in suspense, unleashing a haunting tale of secrets and betrayal...and of one man's search for his missing brother that spirals into a breakneck hunt for a killer, a victim, and the truth.

I have read just about everything by Harlan Coben - I absolutely love his stuff...but despite all the great reviews this book got, I just couldn't get past the first hour.
I've started it, given up and restarted it about 4 times and just can't get hooked. It's just too slow a start and the narrator has done nothing to pull me in.
I don't think I'll go back to it a 5th time, even in desperation.....

There were lots of people who said this book wasn't up to snuff.
Even the author makes note that it was his first book and that if you haven't read any of his others you should before reading this.... I don't get it....
    I LOVED THIS BOOK!
It's been a long time since I was kept guessing right to the bitter end and this book just sucked me in and wouldn't let me go. Each time I thought I had figured out one small piece of the puzzle, it just proved that there were so many others that I had yet to even consider.
And, of course, the story is read by the one and only Scott Brick - a selling point for me on just about any book!

If you are looking for a great story that pulls you in, makes you think and keeps you guessing - this is it!

To most people, Fiona Bristow seems to have an idyllic life — a quaint house on an island off Seattle’s coast, a thriving dog-training school, and a challenging volunteer job performing canine search and rescue. Not to mention her three intensely loyal Labs. But Fiona got to this point by surviving a nightmare.

I passed over this book SO many times because of all of the lousy reviews it got here.
I won't say it was her best book - but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Yes, there are quite a few references to dog training - that is the main characters job and it's important to who she is and how she thinks. It wasn't over the top in my opinion and the book was time well spent.
So, if you are unsure - give it a chance!

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

I read a few of the reviews on this book and was not quite sure I wanted when the words "Science Fiction" were used. But, I had a credit, and it was so popular that I got it.
It's not the sort of book I would normally listen to - but by the time I figured that out I was too hooked to turn it off.
The story line sucks you in right away and as the characters develop you can't help but like them. It's a crazy ride that ends up where you least expect and worth every minute of the listen.
I should also point out that the Narrator really made the book. I doubt I would have enjoyed it so much or stuck with it if it had been read by somebody else. He was FANTASTIC.
The author's other books don't look like my cup of tea, but I will be looking for other with Ray Porter narrating for sure!

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

Despite my headline, I must say that I almost gave up on this book in the first hour or two, then all of a sudden it got so interesting I could barely stand to turn it off.

I don't want to say too much because I don't want to give anything away - but I will say that it was a fun ride full of twists, turns and surprises. It's been a long time since I was so glued to a book. Well worth your time to listen!

This mesmerizing first novel tells the epic journey of Lin, an escaped convict who flees maximum security prison in Australia to disappear into the underworld of contemporary Bombay. Accompanied by his guide and faithful friend, Prabaker, Lin searches for love and meaning while running a clinic in one of the city's poorest slums and serving his apprenticeship in the dark arts of the Bombay mafia. The keys to unlock the mysteries that bind Lin are held by two people: his mentor Khader Khan, mafia godfather and criminal-philosopher; and the beautiful, elusive Karla, whose passions are driven by dangerous secrets.

I have read this book more than once because I just love it. When I saw it on Audible I thought I'd give it a shot because it was on sale and it was just another way to enjoy a book I can't get enough of. What a treat!

The narrator does an absolutely fantastic job with this book and made me feel like the whole thing came alive in ways that I never imagined just reading it myself. He brought each and every character to life and entertained from beginning to end.

If you already read and loved it - give it a try on audio - you won't be disappointed!!

Born mute, speaking only in sign, Edgar Sawtelle leads an idyllic life with his parents and an unusual breed of dogs on their farm in remote northern Wisconsin. Like lots of other reviewers, I absolutely loved this book, but I was so disappointed in the ending. I would have given it 5 stars across the board had it not been for that.

Edgar's story was wonderful and alongside the story of the Sawtelle dogs it had me hanging on every word. The narrator did a great job with this book. His voice, the speed at which he speaks and his intonation were just perfect - it drew me in and kept me listening and wanting more.

But, after spending all that time alongside Edgar, seeing what he saw and feeling what he felt, I wanted a more definitive ending. Closure. To know the outcome of everything. I just wasn't satisfied and keep wishing not only for those things, but that it was not yet over.

I am a big fan of Dean Koontz, but this book has just left me shaking my head. I walked away from it several times and came back to try again - but at about 3/4 of the way through I just can't spend another minute of my time trying to figure it out.
There are just too many characters involved and they only have one tie - beyond that, they are all thrown together and the story just keeps jumping at random from one to another and in and out of different times. It's just way too confusing. I kept hoping something would happen that would pull it all together...but it just hasn't.

Sorry Dean Koontz....this one was a bomb....
