Jerry McKenzie is a reclusive and antisocial artist, quite content to ride his horses and work in his studio, keeping to himself. It's not any kind of life for a child, and when Jerry finds out he’s been named his orphaned nephew’s guardian, he panics. He doesn't know what to do with a child and isn't sure he can give William the affection and the love the boy so desperately needs. Then Jerry meets David Loewenberger, the new teacher William becomes immediately attached to.

A tiresome and unnecessary amount of sex and dirty talk. When I thought one sex scene was finally over, the next chapter had another. The main conflict between the main characters did not make any sense to me. They broke up suddenly and I really have no ideas why. And, the homophobic antagonists who are are the source of almost all the conflict are conveniently swept away with almost no explanation except a suggestion one character's father (who also appears suddenly) did something. A weak story.

Though it's not love, or even like at first sight they form a connection - saving their lives - between them. Follow them in Myth Conceptions, as Skeeve and Aahz test their talent when they decide to take on an entire army themselves and continue on in Myth Directions. I don't mind light-hearted, instantly forgettable silliness. These are much better examples of the genre: Jane Carver of Waar, Space Captain Smith, My Sparkling Misforture. But this book and its characters... even if they are stereotypes and generic as they should be, are not memorable in any way. None of the characters exist to me, they make no impression and are like tools to propel the plot. And the plot is so unimportant (which in silly books is a given but this book isn't any fun.) It could have been constructed by a third grader during playtime.

The day Nick Ramsay's eighth-grade teacher drops dead in his classroom, Nick sees his first reaper. When another cloaked figure appears at his grandmother's bedside, Nick issues an order for the vile creature to leave her alone. This simple act of defiance creates a domino effect that brings Fate and Death to Nick's door and reveals his true lineage, throwing his world into chaos. To make matters worse, a group of rogue reapers declares war on humanity and Nick is the only one who can stop them.

The Book might be good but the production makes it sound like a mediocre podcast. And the narrator reminds me of an over-enthusiastic high school drama student.

Audible is bringing it to you exclusively, for a limited time. The basic premise is this: it's 1817, and a man named Frederick Whithers is wallowing in jail for a crime he didn't commit, desperate to get out so he can go and commit it for real.

Where does A Night of Blacker Darkness rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Good. I needed to giggle like a little boy and this book was just the ticket.

Who was your favorite character and why?

John Keats, a compulsive rhymer and nitwit romantic, was a great sidekick and added some surreal dialogue.

What about Sean Barrett’s performance did you like?

He made the book for me. I'm not sure if I'd have found it so funny without his deadpan and hilarious performance.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

The beginning was confusing but once I got passed the first chapter.

    Any additional comments?

I really liked this book. It is an enjoyable screwball comedy.

When her mom started telling everyone about the messages aliens were sending through a mole on the back of her neck? Maybe on Christmas Eve, when huge, bizarre spaceships descended on the Earth and the aliens called Boov abducted her mother?

Who was your favorite character and why?

The 11 year old girl, Tip and the alien, J-Lo are great for very different reasons.

Have you listened to any of Bahni Turpin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    Yes! and Yes again.

    Any additional comments?

    Listen to it.

An erotic gay romance, a suspenseful thriller.... A series of murders in New York City has stymied the police and FBI alike, and they suspect the culprit is a single killer sending an indecipherable message. But when the two federal agents assigned to the investigation are taken out, the FBI takes a more personal interest in the case. Special Agent Ty Grady is pulled out of undercover work. He's cocky, abrasive, and indisputably the best at what he does.

The story is adequate but the dynamics of the two as depicted through this book & the three follow-ups is amazing. Two men with hang-ups and complicated personalities but who, despite their own intentions, are sexy as hell to each other and to the reader.

Would you try another book from Edward Kendrick and/or Malcolm McDonald?

    Yes.

Would you recommend Everyone's Man to your friends? Why or why not?

Not really. A lot of very traumatic events are solved by kinds words and sex. I found the relationship which solves the main characters problems to be almost abusive. A cop having sex with a victim [esp with the age difference] was kinda creepy and about the last thing needed by the rape victim/prostitute.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I can tell what wasn't my favorite. The cop seduces the teen victim by pretending to be a weird customer for his services in a dark motel room. There is just so much wrong with that.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Two characters who know each other at all so the angel's decision seems real.

Would you ever listen to anything by Serena Yates again?

    Authors improve.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Laughter. An angel meets a man. Both decide to live together forever after a few sexual experiences and God arrives to bless the union. The angel gives up eternity. The man seems to give this no thought whatsoever.
