Iris Scanlon, Half-Moon Hollow's only daytime vampire concierge, knows more about the undead than she'd like. Running all their daylight errands - from letting in the plumber to picking up some chilled O neg - gives her a look at the not-so-glamorous side of vampire life. Her rules are strict; relationships with vamps are strictly business, not friendship - and certainly not anything else. But then she finds her newest client, Cal, poisoned on his kitchen floor, and only Iris can help.

    Story
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely. The story is outstanding the characters have a pulse or not but you care for them none the less. I must admit I didn't see some of the plot points coming. This makes the listen all the more enjoyable.

What did you like best about this story?

The wittiness of Iris. There is just something about the skill in which Molly Harper invests into her female protagonists. They have heart, spunk, ingenuity and resourcefulness that tells me that if I had the opportunity to meet any of these wonderful woman including Iris, we would be instant friends.

What does Amanda Ronconi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Amanda allows her voice to more than speak the words. She brings passion, mystery and sometimes just plain silliness that I adore. I have loved every last one of her portrayals in Molly Harper's books.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Not every day sucks!

    Any additional comments?

If you find this book enjoyable than I would recommend all of the Harper books in the Nice Girls Don't series and Driving Mr. Dead. Ms. Ronconi brings life to the delightful words that Ms. Harper has penned with grace and finesse.

Jane Hayes is a seemingly normal young New Yorker, but she has a secret. Her obsession with Mr. Darcy, as played by Colin Firth in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, is ruining her love life: no real man can compare. But when a wealthy relative bequeaths her a trip to an English resort catering to Austen-crazed women, Jane's fantasies of meeting the perfect Regency-era gentleman suddenly become realer than she ever could have imagined.

    Story
Where does Austenland rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is a solid book even if a little on the light side. Author did make me question Jane's choices numerous times through out the story. The basic premise of whether you can believe everything you see and hear when you are living in a make believe world was intriguing.

Would you be willing to try another book from Shannon Hale? Why or why not?

I would. Sometimes a light read on a rainy day is just what the doctor ordered. The idea of a location to play out an Austen drama is intriguing however I can live with out the corsets.

What about Katherine Kellgren’s performance did you like?

Katherine does a lovely job making you believe in the characters and especially the quirkiness of our heroine. Delightful job.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I nearly did. Started listening to this novel on a trip out of town and then finished it on a rainy Sunday. I had to know how it finished.
