Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter, Roots, Queen, Wench,
While none of the books above include time travel as does Kindred, they are all woven around themes of prejudice and man's inhumanity to man, All of these books are well-written, well-researched and their plot lines make them hard to put down.
I was frustrated when I had to turn it off, but I couldn't have listened to all of it in one sitting.
To date, I have listened to 26 Audible books and have enjoyed all of them, mainly because I always check the book ratings on Amazon, Good Reads and Book Movement before purchasing them. Wool Omnibus has ratings of 4.4, 4.8 and 5 on these sites as well as a 4.3 rating from Audible. Wool Omnibus offers a creative, captivating plot with lots of twists and turns, well worth reading! Reading is the optimal word here, though, as Minnie Good's narration detracts from the enjoyment of the audible version. I could never get totally lost in the story because I was put off by too many characters depicted with voices of cartoon caricatures (example-Bernard). Contrived laughs and other dramatized sound effects were detracting, as well. I still rated the book an overall 5 because it's that good, but I recommend reading this particular book not listening to it.
