Jack Holloway's somewhat caustic and sarcastic sense of humor. Will Wheaton played the part to a tee.
The characters played off of each other extremely well. Protagonists and antagonists both were well written and represented by the narrator. Just a real laugh and very enjoyable presentation. Well done!
No, this was the first narriation by Mr. Wheaton I hves heard. I hope it will not be the last.
I can't say but what a great movie it would make!
Yes. It was a great story with plenty of twists and turns to keep me interested.
The opening chapter with the King of England battling in France all the while the aliens were watching....
Yes, but as usual life tends to interfere with such. But when I had time it was well worth it.
David Weber did well with this one and Charles Keating is fast becoming one of my favorite narrators.
I would and have. This is really a gripping story line with an expansive and complex set of characters.
OWL. It is just funny that as a computer with all the answers Merlin has to pry the answers out of him. The interchange between the two and Merlin's exasperation reminds me of dealing with teenagers. I just have to laugh.
The death of the King and his defense by an extremely young midshipman Hector Aplin during the battle.
No extreme reaction except great enjoyment of the story.
David Weber is one of my favorite authors with his Honor Harrington Series. The Safehold Series has quickly become another favorite.
I believe the print version was better that the audio version.
Midshipman Potter was my favorite. Unpretentious and unassuming in manner. I think he was a nice counter personality to some of the others.
When Captain Blaine had to admit he has lost his ship.
Yes, even though it delved deeply into a cult that is blindly accepted by society it was an eye opener.
The history leading up to the murder.
The entire book was compelling
The follow on book by Krakauer is just as telling.
I have enjoyed the storyline from the beginning. I especially like the authors attempt to balance the technology and stay one step a head.
I think this is one of the narrators better presentations.Much better that Kevin Collins.
No, it is much too detailed and in-depth for a single sitting.
I hate to start a series and not finish it, but this may be a first. The storyline just doesn't quite grab your attention. I kept waiting for things to become interesting.
I would be willing to give them another try.
Any book is time well spent. I just think I could have spent it on a better book. It just drags. I can't say it was one of those stories that grabs you and holds you attention. This one just kept me hoping something would come along and start the ball rolling. At times there was a glimmer. But......it just never got there.
This is the second. I'll give him" A" for imagination.
Steady, unwavering, uninterested
No. It would be as disappointing as "Starship Trooper".
I hope Book 3 makes up for the short comings of the other two. I will most likely finish the series out just because I have to. Would not recommend this series to anyone.
It ranks as one of my favorite audiobooks.
I think his delivery is excellent and he carries the characters much better by virtue of his grasp of the Queens English..
Quite the ride.
It was all very good
When Tyler figured out Maple Syrup was a bit hit with the aliens
I wasn't much on Ringo's other stories but this one is good.
Another example of Scalzi's great and wicked sense of humor and his not too serious observation of the human character. Kept me laughing throughout.
Just enjoyed the story as a whole.
I have listened to Mr. Wheatons performance of "Redshirts" which was excellent, and enjoyed this one just as much. His performance is great! I suspect he has the same wicked sense of humor as the author and carries the intent and feeling of the story to it's fullest effect.
Once while driving, I was laughing so hard I had to pull off the highway so I did'nt cause an accident. Keep the good work! Think about doing"Old Mans War and "The Last Colony". I can just hear John and the old farts now...
Yes and I did. On a road trip.
These two, author and narrator are a stellar match. Cant's wait for more.
