In The Voice of Knowledge, don Miguel Ruiz reminds us of a profound and simple truth: The only way to end our emotional suffering and restore our joy in living is to stop believing in lies, mainly about ourselves.

I loved the other Don Miguel Ruiz audios and they are transforming me... but I would not have ordered this one had I realized it was abridged. The others are not, so I didn't even check. With that said, I still gleaned a lot from the book but wanted to mention the abridgement in case that is important to other potential listeners.

You will feel much more in touch with your real 'Self' after listening to Toltec wisdom.

I loved this story. It gripped me, seriously. I cared about all of the protagonists, and worried over their fates. I actually would get to my destination and keep listening with my mp3 player in the car, to find out what happened next. And esp. if you get it in this 4.95 sale, you will be bagging a deal. It's a wonderful story, don't miss out.

If 'New Thought' authors appeal to you, and Tolle, Dyer, and Chopra resonate with you, give this book a try. I am thoroughly enjoying it. I don't feel as though I have to agree with every word and interpretation the author makes to benefit from the upbeat, encouraging ideas. If you want to make friends with your mind, this book is a step in that direction...maybe a very big step if you are ready for it.

A manual for relating to the brain in a revolutionary new way, Super Brain explains how to use your brain as a gateway for achieving health, happiness, and spiritual growth. The authors are two pioneers: best-selling author and physician Deepak Chopra and Harvard Medical School professor Rudolph E. Tanzi, one of the world's foremost experts on the causes of Alzheimer’s. They have merged their wisdom and expertise for a bold new understanding of the “three-pound universe” and its untapped potential.

I took away a couple of important 'big ideas' that I had long suspected but couldn't understand because I didn't have the reference point I needed. The most important point for me was how to know when to look for your own hidden agenda in situations. That is going to be so helpful. The book is also encouraging by making change seem possible, and failure understandable and even part of the process of growth.
I feel positive and strong and capable and inspired after listening to this book. I will be playing this one frequently. Liberation seems not only possible, but inescapable. If you even faintly suspect you might like this subject matter, just do it, buy it, it's a fabulous book.

  • The Body Fat Solution: Five Principles for Burning Fat, Building Lean Muscle, Ending Emotional Eating, and Maintaining Your Perfect Weight

The Body Fat Solution is neither super low carb nor super low fat, and the author steers clear of demonizing entire food groups. Instead, Venuto shows you how to personalize an eating plan that takes into account your unique metabolism and calorie needs. He details the stumbling blocks we all face to success, and gives you the tools to overcome them.

    Story

I have lost weight in the past with extreme lowcarb, which works like crazy, but also left me with thinned hair. So that left me concerned about this approach. However, the foods eaten on this plan are not very limited. You really don't need to count carbs, but be conscious of the total calories, and get your calories from nutrient dense food.

So going into the plan, this is what I discovered: When you start eating fibrous, nutrient dense foods, you end up with little room in your diet for empty calories, and little desire for them as well, which is very helpful. If in my day I eat a big apple, a carrot, a salad, some lean chicken, a little oatmeal, a slice of cheese and whole wheat crackers, black bean soup...you end the day quite satisfied.

and you do lose weight. I'm down 17 pounds so far.

Some parts of the audio were more interesting than others, which is the only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. I docked the performance stars for pronunciation mistakes, especially inconsistent ones.

It's a very worthwhile book, and if you are ready to give up empty foods or have already done so, this can extend your knowledge of how to eat, and maybe more importantly, how not to eat. Eat to fuel your body and life, and not for comfort, to fill emotional voids, etc.

Would you consider the audio edition of Earth Abides to be better than the print version?

I managed to miss every seeing this in print, but I'm loving this book even on my second listen. I don't usually listen to fiction books twice, but I truly loved this story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

    Can't pick one!

What about Jonathan Davis and Connie Willis ’s performance did you like?

It was a balanced presentation, no over-acting really, just a well-told story well-read.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed several times, sometimes there was a bit of that human absurdity that we just have to turn a wry grin at, recognizing our own foibles. The sad parts were touching, but not to the degree to really pull tears.

    Any additional comments?

Just really glad I got this book!

A Course in Miracles, also known as "the Course" or ACIM, was scribed by Dr. Helen Schucman. It is a self-study course that aims to assist listeners, readers, and students in achieving spiritual transformation. Book 1: Text is largely theoretical, and sets forth the concepts on which the Course's thought system is based. Its ideas contain the foundation for the lessons in Book 2, the Workbook for Students.

I actually didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I am, when I listened to the narration, I was not pleased with the voice. I thought it dry and unenthusiastic. But 10 hours in, I can say Mr. Stewart was an excellent choice. His pacing is excellent, his enunciation clear.

The Course can be daunting, and I truly believe being able to listen as well as read will be helpful to any serious Course student.

However, I highly recommend that anyone who wants to be happy, buy 'To Love is to Be Happy With.' Actually, if you go to the website of the author's institute, you can read the entire book online.
However, you still need a copy. I would love to have that book available here on Audible, though I think I have it memorized! It is actually possible to forget how to be unhappy, and this book is one that can show you how!

I've studied the sorts of topics this book addresses for nearly 20 years, and this book touches on many of the most important issues, and it will convince you, that you are in charge, you are the 'CEO' of your grey matter, and you can influence your choices by simply changing them, and by reframing them as well. If you want to know how to rewire your subconcious without really understanding the subconscious, this book will give you the tools. I've already listened 3 times, and I know I will listen many more.

Under-appreciated until now, The Lost Girl is perhaps D.H. Lawrence's most beautiful, thoroughly contemporary, love story. This captivating novel charts the journey of a woman caught between two worlds and two lives, one mired in dreary, industrial England and a life of convention, the other set in the vibrant Italian landscape holding the promise of sensual liberation.

I am happy I only spent 5 dollars in the sale, and not a whole credit. I looked forward to a nice long literary story.... I just hung in there because I was able to listen during slow time at work. The narrator elongates her syllables in a way that I don't enjoy at all, and the story barely held my interest...and the suddenness of the ending would have infuriated me if I had been one bit emotionally involved in the tale.
