Would you consider the audio edition of Monster Hunter Alpha to be better than the print version?

    Wouldn't know.

Have you listened to any of Oliver Wyman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Not before this franchisee - but I certainly will!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me smile and chuckle a few times.

In Eyes of Prey, a depressed and unfocused Davenport takes on a macabre case, tracking down a serial killer whose attacks are focused on the eyes of his victims. With all of his current inner turmoil, Davenport isn't sure that he should accept the case when he hears about the murder of Stephanie Bekker, the wife of a prominent physician. But when a second woman dies, her face cruelly maimed like the first, he feels that clutching intensity of interest that means he is involved whether he wants to be or not.

What would have made Eyes of Prey better?

    Another narrator!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Didn't last longer than 1,5h - tried three times. I am sure it is great. I love the other books.

Would you be willing to try another one of Richard Ferrone’s performances?

    NO!

What made the experience of listening to The Bloomsday Dead the most enjoyable?

This book does not give in to the the normal redemption cliches - just squirts them. The gore is like looking at a Tarantino movie - but more unexpected. Made me flinch.
    The narration is superb.
Smart book from a well educated author.
    I simply love it.

    Our Hero

Evil is most assuredly afoot - and Britain’s fate rests in the hands of an alluring renegade... and a librarian. These are dark days indeed in Victoria’s England. Londoners are vanishing, then reappearing, washing up as corpses on the banks of the Thames, drained of blood and bone. Yet the Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences - the Crown’s clandestine organization whose bailiwick is the strange and unsettling - will not allow its agents to investigate. Fearless and exceedingly lovely Eliza D. Braun, however, with her disturbing fondness for dynamite, refuses to let the matter rest...

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

YES. Nice characters and a rather witty plot.

What did you like best about this story?

The interaction between the two heroes.

Did James Langton do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Well... he was superb when it comes to that... BUT that so called kiwi accent. I have seldom heard a worse one - it is frankly atrocious. It is plain broad Aussie and in being so probably offends every Kiwi and Aussie in equal measure ;) Because of this, I gave him three stars - one less than the rest of his performance deserves.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    nope

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Not really - kept hoping it was going to get better.

What was most disappointing about Gayle Lynds’s story?

How uninformed all the characters are. "Everyone" knows that your mobile will give you away - but not in this book.

    Which scene was your favorite?

    none

Was The Book of Spies worth the listening time?

    nope

Kriminalinspektör Ann Lindell vid uppsalapolisen får fallet på sitt bord och hittar både konflikter och misstro under ytan i det lilla samhället. What did you like best about Den upplysta stigen? What did you like least?

    Omständlig och långsam

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    nej

    Any additional comments?

Hilderun Gorpe är en av de bästa som jag har hört på svenska. Svenska berättare är oftast långsamma och låter som om de gör en "viss dialog" från Hamlet på Dramaten. Inte här. MER Hilderun Gorpe tack :)

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes! With the caution that the sound quality is absolutely tinny and terrible. Even worse than Brilliance - and that is saying something.

What does Grover Gardner bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?

Laughs - because he gets it just right! He is just BRILLIANT in his interpretations and pauses - and he us NOT doing silly female voices - he is perfect. A true shame that the sound is tinny and only mid register - it is awful - because the reading is first class. The sound does make you tired. It is like listening to an AM station on radio. I avoid that.

Could you see Dead Center being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Is is a TV series being read out loud - LOVE IT! Stars.... Hmmmm , Josh Hammell maybe.

    Any additional comments?

Change distributor for the audible content! If I didn't like David Rosenfeldt's books that much - I would NOT buy them as audible, I already avoid Brilliance - unfortunately I now have another one to avoid - Listen & Live Audio, Inc...

Understandably, Lord Burford had some misgivings about hosting another house party at Alderley, his beautiful country mansion. After all, the previous two could at best be described as disastrous, since a couple of their guests were bumped off during their stay on each occasion. But with family members travelling down for the funeral of an elderly relative, the Earl really had no choice but to offer them accommodation.

What made the experience of listening to The Affair of the Thirty Nine-Cufflinks the most enjoyable?

One of the best narrations I have ever heard. The plot is witty and the dialogue occasionally makes you chuckle out loud. The sound quality is also good - that is all to often not the case even when downloading in enhanced format.

What about Cornelius Garrett???s performance did you like?

CG gives every character his or hers own special voice and he knows the value of pausing to let the dialogue sink in without being at all slow!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Absolutely!

    Any additional comments?

Please audible - do give us more from this mystery series a true delight!

"Tinny sound and stilted reading detracts."
    Overall

For starters - I like this book. Unfortunately it isn't done justice by the absolutely dreadfully tinny sound of this recording. I thought that the poor sound quality sample you're given by audible on the book page was due to a bad connection - I was mistaken.
The reader - an accomplished Swedish actor that I listened to in other books - here sounds like a TV news reporter commenting on funeral proceedings for someone prominent - the whole time. I finally gave up listening. A shame.
As a rule Swedish voice over artists have a fair bit to go and learn about how to read books. As in this case.
