"Never liked history"
I have never consider myself as a history buff but this has given me a hunger to learn more of what actually happened in the past. This novel gave me so much information that I never had regarding WWII and allowed me to increase my knowledge while enjoying a wonderful story. I loved moving from one perspective of the world to another and being able to grasp the different way events were experienced by different parts of the world. Now I will be reading well researched historical novels and hoping I can enjoy them as much as I did this one.
Narration was wonderful, story was wonderful, hisory was presented in a way that will stay with me. A wonderful experience in every respect.
"PLEASE bring back James Marsters!!!!!"
I LOVE the Dresden series and this is a good addition to the story line. I also think John Glover is a good narrator but HE IS NOT Harry Dresden. I started to end the series with the last Marsters narration but decided to get this one anylway. A mistake I will not make again. I can forgive Harry for his errors in judgement and rash actions when Marsters tells them but found myself getting outdone with his 'antics' when John Glover tells them. I got to the point I was just ready for the book to end so I did not have to listen any more. As much as I have enjoyed the series, if James Marsters is not brought back as the narrator, I will purchase no more of them. If you have followed the series with Marsters, I do NOT recommend getting this, read in in print or just realize the series is over.
"A fun look at magic"
I had trouble with the narrator when I first started to listen but learned to appreciate what he was doing, being Harry Dresden. I can never be sure if I really like Harry but I always pull for him. I am looking forward to continuing the series.
"Nice escape listen"
I loved the Monster Hunter series and bought this for the author. It is a bit different than the Monster Hunter series but a fun listen anyway. I had a bit of a problem getting into the book at first but enjoyed it once it got rolling.
"Fun listen"
I have enjoyed all three of the Monster Hunter books. They are pure escape. The narrator is excellent.
"One of my all time favorites"
Loved, loved, loved this book. Great story that takes you to the land of "what if". It started a bit slow but once the reader is allowed to fully enter the story, there is no leaving. It is NOT a horror story but one of imagination and possibilities and takes the reader on a wonderful journey. I have recommended this book to everyone I know. Craig Wasson does a wonderful job with the narration.
"Disappointing"
I just finished Herman Wouk's books on WWII (Winds of War and War and Rememberance) narrated by Kevin Pariseau and wanted to have a similar wonderful experience learning about WWI. The story was very good, lots of information, well presented (interesting) research, enjoyable writing style. Unfortunately narration was terrible. I wanted to hear the story but had to force myself to listen to the narrator. He read the story like it was a phone book. I understood every word but he brought nothing what was happening on the page. I would love to continue with this trilogy as it is released but if John Lee continues to narrate this will be the only one I listen to.
