I enjoy the Cork O'Connor series, but this story was one of pain and sadness. William Kent Krueger is a good writer and I do enjoy his books; however, this one seem to dwell on the past. Apparently I have missed the book in which Cork's wife dies and Cork now seems to be at odds with his life. I understand grief and the spiritual side of life; I suppose this is one of the reasons I do like to read Krueger as he adds spirituality to all his writings. I would recommend this book for someone who enjoys mysteries and what can I say about David Chandler's narration other than he is a class act; he is one of my favorite narrators!
What else can I say.... ah yes, I would recommend to someone else and I can't wait for another book by Keith McCafferty.
The fact that someone can develop a story line around fishing lures is memorable to me!
I love the sound of his voice as Shanahan
I could not "put it down". Had to listen to it all.
Waiting to hear more from Keith.......
I enjoyed listening to this novel once I got past the change in narrators. This is a little known piece of American History. I remember when Ross Perot announced he was going to run for the Presidency......I admire the way he handled this situation. This is a good book and I would recommend all Americans read it.
"Bull" Simons. He lived as he was. I believe this is the one of the reasons that Perot chose him to head up the mission to get his imprisoned employees out.
When they were reunited with their families.
The book, the story line would be reasonably good if the narration was not so distracting. I have to keep hitting replay in order to connect the story line because the narrator tries to use different voices for the characters. I can appreciate this method from an experienced narrator or one that is good, but I'm sorry for this book it is very distracting,
I have not completed the book and I do not know if I will.
Not at this point.
This is a short book. Good thing.....this book is one that is better read instead of listening to it. The narrator read the book as if he was in a hurry; without giving much thought as to how or what he was reading.
Edward Lewis would have been fine as the narrator if he would have slowed down and give some thought as to what was being read.
Not necessarily. You can not underline passages in the audio version, but if you are strapped for time it is good to listen to the book before you purchase it as a reference.
Now Discover Your Strengths. Recommended reading for anyone in management.
The characters, it is always about the characters and I love the characters of Bally Buckle Bow!
This series is just good reading.....to compare them to any other series does them an injustice. Good clean reading.
John Keating is the perfect narrator for this series of books.
Why in Heaven's name would I want to rename the book. The title is perfect as it is, ah so...
I had thought this book was about the Book of Isaiah from the Old Testament. The writings of Isaiah the Prophet. If is was based on Isaiah's writings, I missed something while listening.
I will have to go back and listen to this one again before I listen to another of Mr. Braden's books.
He is a good reader.
I am not certain.
I am not sure I would recommend this book to someone else. Confusing.
Yes. It is spell binding-good mystery.
it kept me interested. Always wanted to know more.
Finally when Martha and Stranahan quit dancing around each other.
Captivating, funny, and interesting
Walt is a cowboy who is willing to give the benefit of the doubt, accept people for who they are, but yet he still lives by the law.
I love George Guidall's performance. He is a male voice, but he performs Vic and Ruby with finesse.
Yes, Yes, Yes,......
I love the Walt Longmire books and I do watch the television series; however the television series cannot, does not hold a candle to the books.
I would like to say a different narrator, but the story is a very immature story line.
Very immature writing style; the story line seemed to be more about the sexual innuendos then solving of the murders.
It is very obvious the narrator is attempting to impersonate a male voice. However, it is poorly done and very distracting when you are trying to listen to the reader.
I would definitely do away with the sexual undertones and innuendos, the curse words especially the f word. The use of these gimmicks to make a story more interesting is in very poor taste and leaves the writing talent questionable.
I would not recommend this book.
