When a fire in an abandoned fruit stand in rural Lincoln County reveals the murdered body of a woman gone missing from Sante Fe years ago, Police Chief Kevin Kerney finds himself cooperating with his estranged son, a man he hardly knows, Deputy Sheriff Clayton Istee. While Kerney digs into the woman's past, hoping to find clues that will lead to a credible suspect, Clayton must unravel two more homicides that seem on the surface totally unrelated.

I enjoy listening to the series by Michael McGarrity. These books are a series so therefore, he doesn't necessarily tie everything together before one book ends. In other words, if you enjoy the book you keep coming back for more. I like the main character Kearney. I envision him as a John Wayne and I appreciate the way that McGarrity lets us have little glimpses into his past as well as he current situations. I would recommend these books to anyone who enjoys reading a good detective mystery.

New York Times best-selling author William Kent Krueger has won numerous accolades for his books, including the Anthony Award for Best First Novel. In Trickster’s Point, the 12th suspenseful installment in Krueger’s Cork O’Connor series, Cork is framed for the murder of Minnesota’s first Native American governor-elect, Jubal Little. As Cork fights to clear his name and uncover the truth, he discovers that events from his own past may hold the key to the real killer’s identity.

    Story

I enjoy the Cork O'Connor series, but this story was one of pain and sadness. William Kent Krueger is a good writer and I do enjoy his books; however, this one seem to dwell on the past. Apparently I have missed the book in which Cork's wife dies and Cork now seems to be at odds with his life. I understand grief and the spiritual side of life; I suppose this is one of the reasons I do like to read Krueger as he adds spirituality to all his writings. I would recommend this book for someone who enjoys mysteries and what can I say about David Chandler's narration other than he is a class act; he is one of my favorite narrators!

Her infant daughter is hidden in a shed behind the house. All that the Georgia Bureau of Investigations taught Faith Mitchell goes out the window when she charges into her mother's house, gun drawn. Welcome back to the village of Ballybucklebo. Come and say hello again to Dr. O'Reilly's odd-as-two-left-feet patients; his housekeeper, Mrs. "Kinky" Kinkaid; and O'Reilly's pets: Arthur Guinness, the beer-swilling black Lab, and Lady MacBeth, the demonically possessed white cat. And of course, to young Dr. Barry Laverty. After Barry's first month as an assistant to crusty Dr. O'Reilly, he has been offered a permanent spot. This book is a self help book, but an easy read. You do not have to have a degree in counseling in order to be able to apply the principles laid out to help you overcome the issue of being a perfectionist. An issue that most "first born" people usually have to deal with. I have shared this book with several of my friends because I also purchased the Kindle version as well. Love that feature about Audible and Kindle, don't you?

  • The Fear of the Lord: Discover the Key to Intimately Knowing God

Many Christians have never understood the fear of the Lord, which builds passion and intimacy into their relationship with god and makes their lives real and pure. In this rerelease of his book, John Bevere dispels the false understanding of god. Understanding why and how to fear god is the beginning of knowing Him as He yearns to be known. In his lovingly confrontational style, Bevere challenges believers to reverence God anew in their worship, prayers, and daily living.

Other than the Bible John Bevere's books should be required reading for every Christian and certainly for anyone who is in the ministry full time. His insight into scripture is phenomenal and the truth he speaks through God's Holy Word touches you to the core of your soul. I recommend this book to all believers who are looking to go deeper in their relationship with God.
