So when he finds himself facing a month's leave, he offers his services to Troubleshooters Incorporated. Founded by a former SEAL, the private-sector security firm is a major player in the ongoing war against terrorism, carrying out covert missions too volatile for official U.S. military action.

First, the unthinkable: a security breach at a secret U.S. government facility unleashes the monstrous product of a chilling military experiment. Then, the unspeakable: a night of chaos and carnage gives way to sunrise on a nation, and ultimately a world, forever altered. All that remains for the stunned survivors is the long fight ahead and a future ruled by fear—of darkness, of death, of a fate far worse.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A more interesting beginning or a better narrator.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I am definitely going to try and find a book Narrated by Patrick Lawlor

How could the performance have been better?

Not so monotone and drawn out words

    Any additional comments?

I purchased this based on reviews, i guess I should've kept reading all reviews because all the first reciews raved about the book. But as you read further the reviews aren't so great. I was really looking forward to a longer read that kept me captivated, unfortunately this book did not. I kept going back to other books then try try again to get into it, but could not hold my attention.

New York book editor Maris Matherly-Reed knows a best seller when she sees one - even if it is just a tantalizing partial manuscript submitted by a writer identified only as P.M.E., with the return address of an obscure island off the Georgia coast. Maris is intrigued enough to search for him.
