"I'd wait for 3 before starting 2"
I knew from the about half way through the book that I wasn't going to be happy with lack of resolution with this book, and considered stopping then to wait for book 3 to come out. I'm certainly going to recommend to my kids that they wait for book 3 to be available before starting the series, as there are just too many annoying open items and it is frustrating to wait a year or two to try to remember them and pick up and continue.
Read like a Young Adult novel, certainly appropriate for family listening if you don't mind poo jokes.
"Requires Concentration,"
which I obviously didn't have, since I listened to part 1, then part 3, completely skipping part 2, and didn't even notice until it ended. Except it didn't end, it just 'paused' until the next book is available. So I guess when Audible gets the next book, I'll go back and listen to this one, all 3 parts, in order, then maybe I'll enjoy it more!
"Nero Wolfe in a previous life"
Clever, fun little tale, with parallels to Nero Wolfe (Rex Stout) throughout. If you like Archie and Nero, you'll also very much enjoy this clever mystery in a historical setting. I'm looking forward to the next one, now that I'm more at home in ancient Venice.
"Sci-fi Comdey of Manners"
If you like sci-fi and you like 'The Importance of Being Earnest', then you'll love this fun blend of Victorian comedy with time travel. And a nice twisty ending.
"Good, but still more??..."
Although I've enjoyed the story and listening to it, the fact that I need to fork out yet another credit, or two, or? to keep going with the narrative finally got to me. I bought and listened to the first three, but you know where the plot is headed, and it's just not worth the extra $'s to keep on with it.
"Not for family listening"
I personally enjoyed this book and the later two, but be warned that they are not for family listening - both the sex and the violence are very graphic. I like to listen to books on long family drives, but this series won't work for that!
