If you want the historic details about the English royals, rather than a "romanticized" version of the facts, this author has to be your choice. Another great read!
The story is first rate! Contrasting two men, obsessed with their passions at the same time in history, one good and one evil. The backdrop of the evolving city of Chicago only adds to the mystery and the shocking differences between there quests.
This is a very thought provoking book. Having had family members with similar mental issues, i was able to see the validity in the author's analysis. But, no matter what your background, this is a great read!
I could not stay attached to the story. Also, the narrator's voice seemed a little too mature for the main character; as well as being a little harsh in tone. I did not finish it.
I am a fan of most biographies of British royalty, and this was a superb treat. An amazing chronicle of the children of a very controversial king. And, the apples certainly did not fall far from the tree! I can't wait to read more of her work.
I am a fan of Brad Meltzer's "Decoded", but have never read any of his books. This one just did not hold my interest, And, what a disappointment, since I am a huge fan of conspiracy theories and mysteries.
I am a fan of British history going back centuries, and was not sure if I would enjoy this more contemporary biography. But, it did not disappoint. It was well written; seemed to follow history accurately, and the author did not take sides on the issues, just recorded them.
I found the story a little depressing even though that was the author's intent. Some uplifting character's would have been welcome. But, overall, a good depiction of that era in NYC.
I am a big fan of vampire stories, and was hoping that this series would not disappoint......and, it hasn't. The mythology was complicated enough to hold my interest, and the angel component was a sweet surprise.
I am a lover of the Victorian period. And, this gave story me quite a laugh thinking about how the sisters would fit into this stoic period of repressed feminism!
