Took a college french class and no one could understand a work I said in French at the end of the class. This helped me say the words and not worry about spelling or grammar. The french have an annoying way of not pronouncing the end of most words and conjugated verbs all sound alike to me. Pimsleur just put them in sentences I could understand then reviewed them often. This worked out so well I eventually bought Phase 1, 2 and 3. Now I can actually carry on a very basic conversation and understand a fair amount of conversation in french. I did listen to each section every day and sometimes repeated the section. French does not sink into your head automatically, but if you just listen and repeat lessons each day it is pretty amazing what sticks. I did dishes, laundry, went to the market or ran errands while listening. Made boring chores more interesting and learned basic French.

This book is probably perfect for someone with the same problems and reactions and probably young. I am just too old for this book. I wanted to tell this person to grow up for God's sake and stop acting like an out of control pre-teen. When she files off into a rage over a little thing, it is a reaction we recognize as the straw that broke the camel's back. I just couldn't get very far in this book to find out if it ever got better or if she was just going to flop on the ground like a carp over every little thing. Self absorbed without coping skills and how she reacts sums up the book. Yes, I couldn't stand it and tried not to let the horrible person portrayed want to grade this with no stars.

Enjoyed this book very much. Makes you want to think about what you might do in similar circumstances. Makes you wonder if the characters in the book acted the way your friends and aquaintances might act or respond in the same situation. Maked me think about how much we depend on technology and how much most of us don't know about the things we use everyday like plumbing, lights, heat and the cars we drive. There is an empathy with the main character who's perspective changes as he grows old. Liked the book very much.

At first I thought this was a little on the slow side and not like most novels that dance right along to the end. There is nondescript music in the background, which is different. After awhile the slower pace was really nice. Unlike a novel where you wonder who did it or how it will end, I pretty much know how this book starts and ends. Truly the saying about it is all about the journey is true in this case. Enjoyed just listening and letting the book unfold as opposed to sections and stories being deliverd by a Pastor or in Suday School. Really didn't realize what and how much was in there having never really sat down and read any of the books from beginning to end much less the entire bible. Thought this was a great experience.

When you finish the book you can't completely read everyone and avoid being taken advantage of or lied to, but your in a much better position after reading the book. Unless something is glaringly wrong with a person, I pretty much accept whatever people are telling me. This is why I don't buy a car by myself or sign contracts that could do harm. After reading this book you may pay more attention and mentally ask a few more questions unthought of before. If you need to figure out if your being lied to you will have some idea of what to look for and what to ask. Enjoyed this book mainly because it had information I could use and told me many things I never knew. Trying to spot a liar? This will give you some insight.

My acquaintance with the Bible has beeen Sunday School and Church as an adult. The person giving the sermon read and also interpreted. After decades, I realized we kept hearing the same parts of the Bible and perhaps it was time to read the book. For me, reading the Bible was boring. Decided to try listening and this changed everything. James Earl Jones' voice makes the passages clear. Not far into listening I realized I had never heard some of these things before. Every day, for about an hour while doing miscellaneous chores, I listen. Really enjoying the story and the deep voice coming through my earbuds.

I am guessing that you are like me and have hit some obstacle and need information. For me the obstacle came in the form of someone close with severe medical problems. Read books on how doctors think, how hospitals work, malpractice and so on. This book helps you decide what is right for you, medically, and making those decisions. I can't be objective about this book because I needed something to help my decision making in medical matters. This book helped my perspective and helped give me the tools and the outlook to take matters in hand. This book helped me balance decision making while taking in other related matters and combining the information. I am glad I read this book.

This one kept my attention. The Seal in the book is just a regular guy with some extraordinary abilities that came from a tough and demanding life growing up. Made me think you can't just take the average young man and make him a Seal. Something has to happen to make him not just survive, but to endure extremes along the way. The story is fascinating and gives you an inside look of what it takes to pull off undercover assignments and how they do them. This is the real life version of "James Bond" and "Mission Impossible" movies.

Ever wondered about the Dust Bowl and why people from Oklahoma were given derogatory names like "Oakies"? Why did people see them as people who would rather live in the dust collecting welfare? Why did we call them uneducated and think of them as dirty and invading states with hard working people looking for a handout. Worse, why were they coming here trying to take jobs already scarce? By the end of the book you think you may have taken another road were it you. If you are hopeful and optimistic, you may have stayed too long in Oklahoma or the Texas Panhandle like they did. You come away knowing you could have been one of them looking for a future. You also come away wondering how people could endure such conditions and be so optimistic about the future.You may also decide these had to be some of the toughest people on earth.

Loved this book. The book was so interesting and so informative. This should be required reading in High School history classes. History for me in school was one long boring line of events that meant nothing. The only thing I remembered about the Depression was there was no food and farmers poured milk in the street. This makes the years covered come alive. You understand what happened and you can see the exact same events unfolding today. Reading this you find out where many of the stereotypes about people came from. The book educates the reader not by just dates and events but by letting you see into the lives of the people at the time and how they perceived the government and their lives. Never wanted to stop listening to this book..
