I don't believe so... I don't think these books are exciting for kids my age.
This book was recommended as being like, "A Discovery of Witches" or "Outlander" but it's nothing like either. These two book are two of my all time favorites and I'm not sure this book would even be in my top 25. The ending is definitely set up for a #2. I think this book is more for younger readers (teens) than adults...On a more positive note.. the audiobook reader (Alyssa Bresnahan) was GREAT! I thought she did a fabulous job with both male and female characters.
I mostly listen to books for the entertainment value, but this was a heart wrenching true story and had my attention from the beginning.
Neither... but I couldn't wait to find out how she finally got free. I found myself looking up pictures on the internet to learn more.
Maybe... it's not a bad story, but nothing really exciting either. I wish there would have been the same story with a bit more attention paid to the love story!
The love story between the two main characters... he's in charge of her life and she's in love with him. But there was not enough of a "pay off" in the end.
Half and Half... I've heard better and I've heard worse.
I did finish the series... More of a teen book.
The "meat" of this story seems to be retold 3 times with 3 different names. I wish there would have been more to the different stories told about Elizabeth's life. Different endings. It annoyed me that the word Bess was used so many times. I don't know if the book had a different narrator if i would have finished it or not. It was like, she falls in love, he turns out to be Gideon, something bad happens... over and over.
Marisa Calin did excellent voices. She switched between man, woman and young teen with ease. Marisa's accents were fabulous. I listen to a lot of audiobooks and she is definetely in my top 4 favorite readers.
I love the narrator and cover of the book. I never had that feeling like I couldn't wait to listen to the book again. Although, my mother read it and she enjoyed it. To each their own!
If you haven't read the Outlander Series yet, you are in for a treat!
The Outlander books are written with Scottish and English words. To read them is fun, but to listen to Davina Porter read them is outstanding! Davina Porter brings Diana Gabaldon's amazing characters and books to life! These two women are something special!
Davina Porter has the most amazing accents, she reads flawlessly. I just can't say enough good things about her!
If you haven't started the Outlander Series... Start! Do yourself a favor and get the audiobook though, it's completely worth the $$!
I can't believe this was a real story. I looked at all reviews and thought i would step out of my comfort zone and try a new type of book... that was a bad idea.
If there was a follow up book, it needs to be a love story between the two main characters and leave all the flying tentacles and whales alone!
I'm going to ask for a refund.
History... Romance... Fantasy
I love that the story moves at a good pace, just enough of each different thing but not enough to overwealm the reader.
I have never heard Jennifer Ikeda's audiobooks before, but she does a phenominal job! I couldn't imagine hearing Matthew and Diana any other way!
The author uses a lot of homosexual characters. The fact that she kept pointing out the fact that these characters were homosexual seemed forced instead of necessary.
These books are like a "romance" version of Twilight with an R rating! A tad "cheesy" but still with a plot! I recommend them.
