"Great Military Science Fiction"
One of the hardest things about trying a new series is getting through the first book. This book captures you from the first few paragraphs and never lets you go. The ONLY reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because some of his rivals in this 1st book are little stupid and illogical in my opinion.
"At last..."
I'll keep this simple. This book wasn't the best one in the "Harrington" series but this is a worthy addition to the ongoing series. This series is the best sci-fi I've ever read.
"...Can I have some more?"
The title of this review says it all. The ending was bittersweet but appropriate. I just love the characters and wish there were more books to follow. I gave this book 3 stars because it was so different from the preceding installments. I realize now that I was in love with the setting of scientifically advanced humans in such a primitive culture such as Marduk. I also missed a certain important character from the first 3 books.
"David Weber is Awesome!"
I gave this book only 4 stars because the first book in this series is so much better. The problem with this author is that he is so ADDICTING! I Have loved every book he has written and I've read or listened to at least 15 of his novels. You can't go wrong with Mr. Weber's work.
"A GREAT HERO MAKER"
I discovered David Weber by picking up "Off Armagedden's Reef" book on cd and I became an instant fan. I read the "Honor Harrington" series next which completely blew me away. Prince Roger is next and I can't wait to listen to the next one. Mr. Weber knows how to create a "hero". I must state honestly that I like the "Honor Harrington" series best but "Roger" is very good.
"First Audible Download"
Stephen King's Salem's Lot was a good listen. I love how the story built up to the final confrontation with the lead vampire but the "epilogue" in my opinion was a bit disappointing.
