"best celebrity bio ever"
good natured and full of voice imitations of well known people you know, surprising story of growing up in show business with a bunch of today's well known actors. I did not want to stop listening, but had to just to get some sleep or at the end of my daily walk. I especially enjoyed that he never spoke ill of people in his life. You can not let the harm others do to you define you, be true to self, well said by Rob Lowe, I loved hearing his story told by him. Jeanie2000
"what hairdo"
Interesting but slow going, almost all you ever wanted to know about Rod and his career as a singer and his affairs and how easily he fell in and out of love. is it 7 or 8 kids he has? No real surprises here.
"personal account of growing up under odd events"
the matter of fact telling of a young boy's experience, not with out humor and guile. good read
"a good read"
loved the story telling. a narrative of events and a spotlight on Bullying and it's aftermath.
"sensational sinister southern scenario"
alsways very high on my list.
the part when the thug was trying to harm Cleet's Secretary. very funny laugh out loud funny.
I just love to listen to Will's reading. he does all the parts so well and distinctivly you always know which person is talking.
I listened to is daily until finished. I could not wait to get back to hear more of Dave's and Cleets adventures, or is it misadventures?
again Burke has written a book so compelling, you must read on. his descriptions are so vivid you can feel the humidity, smell the food and expect to be harmed by the characters
"what a concept!"
intriguing story line, living in the past you remember only from history books and news accounts. For those of us who lived in that era, a fine walk down memory lane. and food for thought, about how fragile our interactions with each other are. one encounter can change the course of history.
the love story and the interruption of a life altered by a horrendous act by a family member.
the lovely ending
His voice changes for different people, hearing the differences instead of your own voice.husky whispering, soft inflections of Sadie, and so many others.
Really change History??
"Teenage angst at it's best"
thought it would be a good read for a teenager, but may be too risque for under 16.
the descriptions of anything gross that would be a teen's idea of hell was delightful. laughed out loud at some descriptions.
the doleful sardonic voice of Madison.
Madison for a veggie dinner.
"travel to Israel while reading this book."
as a prelude to traveling to Israel, I started this book, knowing I would be visiting many places described in the book. I read about the hiding of children behind the waterfalls, and visited Ein Gedi. But most exhilerating was visiting Masada and seeing the ancient dovecotes, and the cistern. It was a bone chilling and exciting experience.
Of course, Yael, the main protaganist. her story of enduring forbidden stolen love and her desire to survive drove her to escape the supression of her life.
yes some of them all were very good.
Yael and order her anything but poultry.
best read in a while ! but most of my reads from Audible are excellent.
"determined to survive, girl to woman"
Jaycee deserves a fulfilled life for surviving this harrowing life in captivity.
She is a natural writer and story teller. I especially liked that she described the sexual part just once and then just referenced it later. The sexual perversity of PG if well documented and well told. Hurrah for her!! I hope she is able to continue writing. She should try her hand at fiction, she has a wealth of background to use. Enjoy your new life Jaycee!
