The delectable Phryne Fisher has been invited to the Last Best party of 1928. When three of the guests are kidnapped, Phryne finds she must puzzle her way through the scavenger hunt clues to retrieve the hostages. This is another sparkling mystery from Australia's Queen of Crime, Kerry Greenwood.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

perverts perhaps although they would just as likely rent an adult movie.

Would you ever listen to anything by Kerry Greenwood again?

no not ever. The story was not at all interesting. There was no mystery. The gratuitous sex was neither shocking nor believable.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

    yes

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Murder in the Dark?

all of it- sorry it just was not at all good.

Before The Company, Robert Littell made a name for himself with The Defection of A.J. Lewinter. Hailed as "a perfect little gem" and a "concise, smart, and funny [novel that] turns Cold War spy cliches on their head," A.J. Lewinter tells the story of an insignificant American scientist whose defection to the Soviet Union becomes a terrifying political chess match of deceit and treachery. Not to be missed!

What about Scott Brick’s performance did you like?

his voice is mellow and he does different characters in a slightly different way so that it is easy to follow who is speaking when the author does not write in who says what. He rarely does a sudden change to the volumeof his voice (it is REALLY ANNOYING to have your eardrums blasted as some narrators do) .

    Any additional comments?

leaves you hanging a bit at the end, but the story line is good and it makes you think.

What did you like best about The Charm School? What did you like least?

narrator was great as usual. Story started out good, but dissolved into a boring romance, with a loud mouth female lead (I am a female, and could not stand her) that is supposed to be smart & educated, but cannot keep her mouth shut when it would benefit herself & her lover. Predictable ending.

If you’ve listened to books by Nelson DeMille before, how does this one compare?

have not & now will not

Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    great as usual

Did The Charm School inspire you to do anything?

    no

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

anyone who likes the True Romance type of book.

What was most disappointing about Rhys Bowen’s story?

Cannot believe that the Heroine captures the heart of the male lead-

Would you be willing to try another one of Katherine Kellgren’s performances?

unfortunately I purchased 3 before listening to any of them- the story descriptions sounded intruiging. Her voice is quite annoying at times, especially when she shreiks(!!!!).
