Since the author is a seasoned performer I'll have to assume the the way he was recorded is why hie voice got so irritating after a while.

Quality writing. The Main character was a man of conscience and deliberate action. Even so he was able to think on his feet in a very believable way.

At some points it did. Mostly it was character development with slpashes of the mystery part on the increase as things developed.

When he went to see the woman the bad guy had shacked up with.

No in pieces was fine.

The thing of Travis having a mysterious past was kind of cliche. I guess the story has to develop in some manner.

Mindless drones.

I don't know that any of my friends need to be told what to do in this manner.

By being an over the top authoritarian.

It was already the condensed version.

When wanting to get advice or gain knowledge of a topic I want a friendly knowledgeable voice. It seems that audible's editors don't realize the personal experience listening with earbuds is. Too many of the self help tiles, like this one, are done in the style of an authoritarian orator in a stadium full of true believers that want to be told what is what. That would work for me would be like a friend or calmly confident expert telling me what they know.

I finally got serious clues to how I can live without constant heartburn and lose weight.

It's only been a couple of weeks and I have lost 12 pounds. I feel better than I have in years. Even if Dr. Davis' approach isn't for you, you'll never know until you give it a try.

Whoever cast Mr Weiner didn't read the book before hand. They assumed it was self help and so needed that hard charging authoritarian style. They were wrong. It is more thoughtful and serious than that.

In terms of my apprehension about the dangers of big business making all decisions based on profit disregarding the harm to real people I did have an extreme reaction.
I didn't laugh or cry.

Allot of this book goes into the detail of Dr. Davis's hypothesis stated as scientific fact. I want to buy into it because I can see much of it as true empirically. I little more honesty in presentation would have been nice.
Pages and pages (since it's audio minutes and minutes) of hard to follow science. I managed to do it but am a bit discouraged that I don't at least have some of the terminology in text form so I can look it up for myself.

That all said I really really liked it.

The balance of danger and humor and magic.

His encounter with Coyote and the way he dispatched the escaped demon.

Wanted to, but I made is last over several sittings.

I was a bit disappointed that the battle with Thor teased about from the start never happened.

It is so nice to have a hero that even while in the most danger imaginable is confident and yet human.

His interactions with the old lady and his dog.

A balance of enthusiasm, realism and humor.

When his lawyer and his dog were captured was tense.

The whole thing was such a fun romp with bad guys and historical mystical mythical characters that it didn't occur to me till after it was over that all the bad guys were women. For now I'll assume that is just the way this story line developed. If the whole series is about misogyny that would get very tiresome quickly.

The way the story unfolded. Some plot twists were predictable but even those were done in an intriguing way.

The first time he conjured up a gnome or ferry or whatever it was. Quite charming.
