B V Larson's Star Force series has become the standard by which I judge all military sci-fi.

This is book 6 in the series and if you're not on board yet, YOU ARE REALLY MISSING OUT! I just finished and I'm sort of in an overwhelmed shocked state of being. SOOO much happened. There wasn't a dull moment. The writing is the best it's ever been and it just keeps getting better and better.

This one was epic as Kyle faces off against enemies both biotic and machine! It's supposed to be the biotics/us and all the other life forms they've discovered against these psycho macro ships right? Well, I can't and won't even tell you what Crowe has managed to do to Earth back home and all sorts other treachery and near fatal things that threatened Rigg's Pigs.

I laughed (mostly at Marvin's antics, and the Centaurs), I pumped my fists, I thought about human nature. I can't wait for more!

IN GENERAL and RAVINGS: This is book 7. There's no way I can sum up what has happened so far. I've rated each book in this series 5 stars and it's become my standard for military sci fi. I constantly search for other series similar to this, but nothing really comes close! Do yourself a favor and go buy book 1 in the series called SWARM and get on this crazy ride.

SUMMARY: This is the first time I cried (at work like a lunatic) while I was listening. Jokes are always made about Rigg's Pigs and we all know by now how dangerous things are. Danger that comes not just from the Macro machines, but from "Emperor Crow" who has seized control of earth and has always been a thorn in Kyle's side while he's fighting for the lives of ALL biotic creatures in the galaxy. Danger from misunderstanding from other biotic creatures like the Crustaceans, those lofty lobster intellectual snobs. This book heavily involves them and also some emissaries from earth with less than honorable intentions. Something really bad happens. I knew it had to happen sooner or later and I was devastated, enraged (at Crow and the Macros).

ANIHILATION: The Macros have taken things up a notch, that's all I can say. and The Blues are acting shady as well.

NARRATION: As always Mark Boyett does a great job. I like that his female characters sound like females and don't sound alike. He IS Kyle Riggs. He does a great job with the voices of the various Biotic races, making each one unique and often funny.

MORE RAVING: B V Larson writes these quickly, I wish audible would publish as fast as he writes them :-) What are you waiting for, go download SWARM or if you're up to date, your credit won't be wasted on this installment.

IN A NUTSHELL: I tend to judge books based on how they make me feel and I had a GREAT time listening to this audio book. Jane Carver is a tall red-haired muscled bad ass biker chick with a potty mouth, a brave/impulsive heart and I have a crush on her. The world-building was solid, the story and plot exciting and easy to follow with descriptions vivid enough that I had no problems picturing the planet WAAR and all of it's inhabitants. Did I mention how funny it was?

SUMMARY: Jane rebuffs this drunk a-hole at the bar and when she leaves he follows her. He gropes her while she's trying to get on her bike. She sees red and punches out at him. He stumbles, so instead of hitting his face she punches him in the neck, HARD..and he dies. Witnesses catch the tale end of it and think she just killed him. She takes off, with the cops chasing her and ends up running into a cave to escape. She ends up traveling to another planet/world after touching a glowing stone she saw in the cave.

Her adventure is epic and HILARIOUS as she tries to help the first creature she found. He's a prince. He's human except for his purple skin, but there are other not so human creatures around. Danger around every corner; mostly because this spoiled Prince she's trying to help has a sense of honor that belies common sense and the princess she's trying to help him save is a nitwit as well. The first of which is them being captures and enslaved by tiger-like creatures.

So much happened that I felt like I should be taking notes, but I don't want to spoil anything. This book is a parody based on Edgar Rice Burrough's "A Princess of Mars", which I haven't read and is supposed to be a classic. I'll read that after I finish the 2nd book of Jane's adventures.

THE NARRATOR: Dina Pearlman is my favorite narrator. I stumbled upon this book because I'll listen to anything that she narrates. She does her best work when narrating a sassy, funny character and Jane Carver fits the bill. Dina nails Jane's humor and sarcasm and all the comedic situations that she gets into on Waar. You never had any trouble figuring out who is who and her male and female characters BOTH are right on target and believable.

Loved it. What a great journey through the years. I got exactly what I wanted and those who were upset may have missed the foreshadowing.

First off, those who were concerned about who Sookie ends up with have missed the point IMO. I consider this series to be Urban Fantasy. which means the romances are NOT the main focus, but the STORY instead. It could even be considered a paranormal cozy mystery.

Charlaine started out writing mysteries and boy does she know how to spin and twist and delight. I'm equally obsessed with her Lily Bard Series. I'm constantly re-listening to them too. This series is no different except for the paranormals involved.

No spoilers, but Eric is a selfish POS. He's been an a-hole for the past 2 books with the whole Oklahoma thing. I don't understand why anyone would root for him. I'm content in lusting after Alexander Skarsgard who plays the TV Eric.

I can't say anymore without revealing too much. I'm pleased though. It was the perfect plot to wrap up the series and to show how much of an effect simple barmaid Sookie has had on the Supe community. All your favorite characters appear and boy does she need them because enemies are busting out of every corner.

JOHANNA PARKER as always does a fantastic job. All of her characters are instantly recognizable. Her voice is so soothing and sultry.

Sums up with a fan girl scream as I ReStart the audio book again.

Long live Sookie and Thank You Charlaine Harris.

Another great installment in the series with (i hope) a promise of more to come. I think I'm also in love with Jim Frangione. He does a phenomenal job narrating this series! That coupled with the way Ward writes will always leave me coming back to the audio version to see "what's doing".
