For decades, the Left has been putting on a play with themselves as heroes in an ongoing civil rights movement - which they were mostly absent from at the time. Long after pervasive racial discrimination ended, they kept pretending America was being run by the Klan and that liberals were black America’s only protectors. It took the O. J. Simpson verdict - the race-based acquittal of a spectacularly guilty black celebrity as blacks across America erupted in cheers - to shut down the white guilt bank.

The wreckage of the starship Odyssey, once Earth's greatest guardian, lies strewn across New York City. Abandoned by all but its captain, Odyssey's sacrifice covered the withdrawal of countless troops as the Drasin assault ravaged the planet. When Captain Eric Weston finally emerges from the rubble, impossibly alive thanks to the mysterious "Gaia", he knows with the Drasin it's kill or be killed.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Only if you want to finish the original story

Would you recommend Out of the Black to your friends? Why or why not?

No. This story was nothing like the other. Too much on the ground, not enough in space. The once near invincible enemy, is now cannon fodder for people not even in the military

What didn’t you like about David deVries’s performance?

Why would the author and publisher change the narrator in the last of four books. Pronunciations were different, everyone had this stupid New York accent that immediately turned me off. I would not have finished this book if I hadn't invested so much of my time in the first 3.

Was Out of the Black worth the listening time?

    NO.

    Any additional comments?

If you feel like New York is the most important place in the Universe, their residents able to band together with weapons unknown to them and beat back a massive alien horde and if you want to believe there is such a thing as GAIA, then this book is for you. For me, it was totally unbelievable based on the first 3 books. Don't waste your time with this one. I LOVED the first 3. This one was an utter disappointing close to this story.
