William Barrow carries a dark secret. A very dark secret. An archivist for the Smithsonian Institute and also a part-time operative for the CIA, no one would ever suspect the handsome "thirty-ish" William is in fact the most reviled human being to ever walk the Earth. His infectious warmth and sense of humor make such an assertion especially hard to believe. But long ago, William Barrow had another name...one that is synonymous with shame and betrayal: Judas Iscariot.

Would you consider the audio edition of Plague of Coins to be better than the print version?

I'd say they are well-matched, and both have tons to offer. I did enjoy being able to close my eyes and visualize it!

What other book might you compare Plague of Coins to and why?

There's nothing like it I've read (or listened to) to date. A wonderfully unique concept by J.R. Rain, and fleshed out, built upon by Aiden James. It's one I'll be listening to again and again.

Which character – as performed by Derek Perkins – was your favorite?

Too hard to choose! If I had to, I'd say Alistair, although his lines are much less than those of William/Judas. The accents were wonderfully done, and each character has its own unique voice- something you don't always find in an audio book.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed out loud several times throughout it, especially the... creative profanity. And I always get a kick out of sarcasm, which this book has plenty of.

    Any additional comments?

I cannot wait for Reign of Coins and Destiny of Coins to hit the market- I am looking forward to downloading them as well!

"All it would take was my true name being mentioned after dark, and it would float back to my aunt. She was the Queen of Air and Darkness, and that meant that anything said in the dark was hers to hear, eventually. The fact that spotting the missing Elven American Princess had become more popular than spotting Elvis helped."

Where does A Kiss of Shadows rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book ranks right up there with the other books I've read. Laural Merlington gives a very convincing performance.

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Kiss of Shadows?

I can't pick only one!!! A Kiss of Shadows is memorable from beginning to end. But every scene with the Queen of Air and Darkness in it has me on the edge of my seat wondering what she'll do next!

What does Laural Merlington bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The main thing she brings, along with her convincing character voices, is the pronounciation of the names and such in the book. A lot of the names in the book are spelled nothing like they sound, and she really makes it so you can understand the series better by listening to it than by reading it!!!!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Galen's death and revival. I like Galen, although he's a disaster in waiting. Laural Merlington made this scene nail-biting.

    Any additional comments?

Keep it up and I'll continue listening!!!!
