This is a collection of brutally honest autobiographical stories of David Sedaris' upbrining and life. We sometimes found ourselves wincing at his childhood accounts and then laughing the next moment at the author's way of finding the wry humor in otherwise disturbing events. My husband and I would look at each other and say, "Jeez, we thought OUR families were crazy. They were Ozzy and Harriet compared to this guy's family!" As always, his tales are sincere and humorous and perfectly delivered.

A family tradition for us! If you're looking for a change from Miracle on 34th Street and another reading of The Night Before Christmas, AND you have a quirky sense of humor, this will enliven your holidays. David Sedaris is off beat and funny as usual, but the "Christmas Letter" is hilarious. This has been a must-play addition to our tree-trimming festivities for two years, and it will continue on into the future. Our 7 - 14 year old kids don't quite get it (it's not too racy but somewhat adult themed) but after a few rounds of Rudolph, this selection is a welcome break for the adults.

The Twilight Zone shows are really fun, especially if you are a fan of old-time radio shows. These aren't high-tech or cutting edge audio programs, but simple sci-fi themes reminiscent of radio and TV programs from the 1930's - 1960's. They are family friendly, so sit back and enjoy.

This is a good collection of erotic stories. Not every story is to my taste so I just skip forward as desired. Some are hard core and others fairly tame. I agree that the stories begin and end abrubtly and would prefer a more recognizable gap between them. If you enjoy written erotica, this is worth a try.

This is a great show for people interested in food and cooking as wellas people who enjoy travelogues. Lynne Rossetto Kasper interviews people around North America and the world on subjects from restaurants to cooking to food science, and more. She keeps the show moving along well so it's never boring.

As always, David Sedaris shares his wry, funny, and poignant views of the world. He has an ability to take note of common experiences and find something funny in them. His deliverance is excellent and we prefer to listen to him tell his stories in his own voice as opposed to reading them ourselves.
