"The Name of the Wind" is Patrick Rothfuss' first novel and boy has he written himself a doozy. He has woven several plots together, along with compelling characters and just enough action to keep the reader happy, into a tale that will make any lover of epic fantasy very happy.
Nick Podehl's narration is quite good. He manages to find a different voice for all the main characters. His female characters come across as feminine without Podehl's needing to change his voice greatly. The only drawback to his work is his tendency to make older men all sound the same. He does have a good handle on accents, and the accents he chose for the various nationalities involved surprised and pleased me.
I do not think you will be disappointed in the least with your purchase.
