"Great Author, Good book"
Lisa Kleypas quickly became one of my favorite romance writers after listening to this book. This book has a mixture of difficult topics, sadness, and joy. Great book all around.
Make sure to "read" _Blue Eyed Devil_ which is the follow up to this book - great book as well!
"Great Story Including More on Other Characters!"
The story is mainly about Torment's journey through grief - but the story also touches on several other established relationships as well as some newer ones. Being a big BDB fan, it was great to see interactions with other characters I have grown to love throughout the series. The first few books in the series mainly focused on one relationship - but this continues to draw you into the BDB "family" and keep tabs on the goings on.
I have read some reviews that this book was disappointing because there wasn't much in the romance department. Personally, I don't feel liked I missed out on anything. In fact, I feel like it was one of the books I enjoyed the most - mainly because we got to know more about other brothers and those involved in their lives in some way.
The book ended on kind of a cliffhanger of sorts - I'm not going to say what so it won't be given away - but I have questions and wonderings on what will happen with certain people. Needless to say, I can't wait for the next book!
"5 Stars All Around!"
Being a fan of the Lord's of the Underworld, when I saw that Gena had released her latest installment, I could not get it in my cart and onto my iPod quick enough! I had plans for my credits (to help me finish out a different series) but those plans were quickly tossed aside - I could not wait to hear Paris' story!
If you have not been following LOTU then you need to start with the first book and work your way to this point - you will NOT be disappointed. Each book features a demon possessed Lord through their inner struggles with their demon, their trials, and how they might find someone to love...
We have been seeing tidbits of Paris' story through the last few books. I sat on the end of my seat wondering when we would get the full picture and hoping the next book would be about him. With that finally happening, I was not disappointed in the least!
The story is filled with ups and downs, steamy love scenes (how can there not be with Paris' demon being "Sex"!), and a peek into new characters' lives. Even though there are steamy scenes, this book does have great content. I hung on every word and every scene - even the ones not involving Paris' and his woman. And at the end of the book I was wishing that I had another to listen to straight away.
As for performance, Max Bellmore is amazing (as usual!). He is brings the characters to life, as any true voice actor should, which helps to paint the best picture in my mind's eye as to what is happening. I would probably listen to anything he read!
Huge thumbs up to Gena and Max!
"The mystery behind Vishous is revealed"
I have to be honest, this book is not one of my favs in the BDB series, but it certainly is a must read. We finally find out more about Vishous, hear his internal battles, and discover why his past still haunts him.
Vishous is into some weird stuff so brace yourself for some BDSM - although it is not a highlight of the entire book.
"This series needs a warning label for addiction!"
This book is the first in the Black Dagger Brotherhood. Be prepared to be swept into wanting to buy the rest of the series straight away! After listening to this book, I found myself buying up all the rest of the titles in the series as my credits became available.
You have been forewarned!
"Feel good story - highly recommend!"
This book is a light "listen" but good entertainment. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to read something that's not heavy or make you feel down trodden.
The narrator does an amazing job with her Scottish accent (at least to these American ears) and in bringing the characters to life in your mind's eye. I found myself being able to picture the entire story clearly in my mind as I listened. I certainly would listen to anything she has read.
"...Poorly written"
I love romance novels and thought I would really enjoy this one. I could only listen to about an hour or two of the book before I had to just stop. It seems to have too much violence and serious sex scenes that involve no romance leading up to it... Not my cup of tea.
"Blah Narrator, Blah Story"
The narrator has a great Scottish brogue but is not a voice actor (well, I don't think she is). Some might like the more non-emotional voice to make it seem more like you're reading the story on your own. But I really like the voice acting.
The story was ok... I LOVE LOVE LOVE romance novels and I also love highlanders (btw, if you want a GOOD one try the ones by Karen Marie Moning) but these characters were not well developed and I did not fall in love with them or their stories as I usually do with other romance novels. This is not an author I will buy again - library loan sounds more like it to test her other stuff out.
"Nora does it again :)"
This book has a little bit of everything. Romance, murder, suspense, mystery, and lots of sarcasm. The lead male character is very different from the typical character in any romance novel.
Nora did good once again :)
"This book me a me a Moning fan!"
After listening to this book I fell in love with the series and devoured each one! I'm a big fan of historical fiction and especially anything dealing with the Irish or Scots.
Her plots are predictable, but honestly, I listen to this fluff because it is far from reality and it's entertaining. It never left me bored, that's for sure! And it made me want to know more about the characters and find out what would happen to them next.
Phil Gigante is an awesome reader! He has an amazing Scottish lilt - honestly I think his voice could melt butter LOL
