I really loved the "Shopaholic" series as the light-hearted fluff they are meant to be so expected "A Desirable Residence" to be more of the escapist genre I have come to expect from this author. Instead I was treated to a rather pointless story of a woman's rather sordid, very tasteless affair. Although the story ended on 1 upbeat note, most of it was dull and uninteresting. I listened to the end because I kept expecting SOMETHING to happen, but nothing ever did. I am sure I will read more of this author's work, but I will not buy it in audiobook form.
As for the reader, she did an excellent job of defining the various characters, I am sorry to say that she was wasted on this book.

Intriguing story. I am trying to listen to it for the 3rd time because I listen when I go to bed and even though I set the app into sleep mode for the shortest time available (15 min), I still fall asleep and miss something crucial to the story. So I listen over and over again until I get the story. This one is worth listening to again and again.

Travis McGee because he comes across as free and easy slacker but when somone needs his help, he helps anyway he can.

I wasn't sure about purchasing this audiobook as listening to a book is a major investment in time and some books don't translate well to being read aloud. However I did enjoy Major Pettigrew's individuality which was constantly at war with his stuffiness and ideas of what is right and proper. Although not a genre I normally read, Major Pettigrew's Last Stand was poignant, funny and altogether human. I recommend it.

Although I am a real mystery fan, I found this book to be a little to graphic for my taste. The story was a good story, I have seen this made into a movie so was already familiar with the story. I don't regret listening to this, but won't likely purchase another book by this author,

I very much enjoyed the story of this book. Jamie Ford achieved the delicate balance between the past and the present while telling about this man's life during WW II and the events that affected him and his community and his present life during the time following his wife's death and his son's leaving the nest for university and imminent marriage. The Oscar Holden recording that he seeks during much of this book is symbolic of him both as a 12 yr old boy and a 57 yr old widower. At times, I laughed out loud with this book, but more often, I wept along with the characters as they struggled through a tumultuous time. This reader enhanced the story with his ability to add the slight Chinese accent at the right time and to pick up the southern drawl of his friend, Sheldon. I really enjoyed this and may even listen to it again.

I had hoped to find an audio version of the Bible that I could listen to on my walks. Instead I received a mish-mash of all the gospels shouted at me like a bad movie version of a "fire and brimstone" preacher. I would have preferred hearing all these wonderful actors reading the Bible as if they were the characters in it. I listened to about 15 min of the Part 1 and have never even downloaded Part 3. Try again, please. This is awful.

Grafton has crafted a gripping story. Kinsey Milhone is a savvy private eye from the late 80s who uses both her inquiring mind and desire for answers to pursue her client's investigation. Add a good dose of serendipity and she solves a 20 year old murder before the police have enough hard evidence to act, but not soon enough to stop a second murder. Well-written with plenty of plot twists, this book was worth listening to and will likely be listened to again. I have read a number of Grafton's books and look forward to "V".

Once again, Harry Bosch has entered the dark side of life and not only solved the mystery, but emerged relatively unscathed. This is an well written story with a strong plot and numerous sub-plots. It reads well and was well read. Definitely a thumbs up!

I have read some of Orson Scott Card's novels in the past, but have never before encountered Ender. And to be introduced to this wonderful story as an audio book with multiple actors was a real treat. After all, Card himself says in the afterward that this is the media for which he wrote the book. I enjoyed this audio book so much that it is still on my MP3 player and will likely remain there, even though I seldom leave a book on my player once I have listened to it. I am really looking forward to reading and listening to other works by Orson Scott Card; especially those about this intriguing boy, Ender Wiggins. Definitely 5 stars!
