Captain John "Black Jack" Geary's legendary exploits are known to every schoolchild. Revered for his heroic "last stand" in the early days of the war, he was presumed dead. But a century later, Geary miraculously returns from survival hibernation and reluctantly takes command of the Alliance fleet as it faces annihilation by the Syndics.

Appalled by the hero-worship around him, Geary is nevertheless a man who will do his duty. And he knows that bringing the stolen Syndic hypernet key safely home is the Alliance's one chance to win the war. But to do that, Geary will have to live up to the impossibly heroic "Black Jack" legend.

"Ranks up there with Star Wars!"
    Overall

This is perhaps the best Sci-Fi story since Star Wars. I downloaded the first book "Dauntless" and before I was finished with it, I had the next two on my Ipod. I then downloaded the 4th book the day it was released, and am now counting the days until the 5th book is released, "Relentless" . There is not another Science Fiction book I would rather read or would rather suggest to another listener. If you have a credit, USE IT; if you don't, BUY IT! You will not be disappointed.

The first book of best-selling sci-fi author Jack Campbell’s new series Beyond the Frontier returns to find Captain John “Black Jack" Geary, the hero of the Lost Fleet series, awoken from cryogenic sleep to take command of the fleet. Geary’s legendary exploits have earned him the adoration of the people—and the enmity of politicians convinced that a living hero can be a very inconvenient thing.

    "Black Jack continues...."
    Overall

This continues The Lost Fleet saga in new series. Since the fleet found home, I guess Campbell (Hemry) wanted to change he name of the saga in some way; but if you listened the first Lost Fleet, this picks up right where Victorious, the 6th book in Lost Fleet series, left off. I hope The Lost Fleet: Beyond the Frontier becomes a very long saga for Black Jack!

When you have to kill the same terrorist twice in one week there’s either something wrong with your world or something wrong with your skills - and there’s nothing wrong with Joe Ledger’s skills. And that’s both a good and a bad thing. It’s good because he’s a Baltimore detective who has just been secretly recruited by the government to lead a new task force created to deal with the problems that Homeland Security can’t handle....

Kim Venatries says: "Yes! It IS that good. Five stars and more."
    "Joe Ledger is incredible!"
    Overall

This book an the next two are very well worth the "listen". A whole new take on the zombie angle. But this is no zombie book; it is a kick-ass black ops must listen!

Thirty years ago, in a facility buried beneath a vast Wyoming emptiness, an experiment gone awry accidentally opened a door. It is the world’s best-kept secret—and its most terrifying. Trying to regain his life in the Alaskan wilds, ex-con/ex-cop Travis Chase stumbles upon an impossible scene: a crashed 747 passenger jet filled with the murdered dead, including the wife of the President of the United States.

Tim Valenta says: "Unspeakably surprised; No regrets"
    "Great new series"
    Overall

The Breach starts a great new series for Patrick Lee. It and Ghost Country are an intersting new concept for the action sci-fi enthusiast. Travis Chase is a character you can really like. Both of these books are both highly recommended in my opinion. I am waiting for the third book to come out.

L.A. police detective Shane Scully comes under investigation by Internal Affairs (derisively known as "the tin collectors") after he kills his ex-partner who was one of the mayor's bodyguards. Temporarily reassigned, so that he can remain under the department's watchful eye, Scully finds that more than his badge is at stake when he is set up to take the rap in a deadly plot of corruption and conspiracy that reaches to the highest levels of the LAPD.

I listened to all the Shane Scully books except the fisrt two, Tin Collectors and Viking Funeral; I am now going back to the begining. Even after knowing where things go, this is a great book. If you never have listen to a Shane Scully book, Start now and with this one!
