In a heavily guarded mansion in a posh Virginia suburb, a man and a woman start to make love, trapping a burglar behind a secret wall. Then the passion turns deadly, and the witness is running into the night - because what he has just seen is a brutal slaying involving the president of the United States.

I have read most of the Lee Child, John Sanford, Harlan Coben books and none of those books tops this story. Normally books take an hour or more to get you excited. This story grabs you from the beginning and doesn't let go. There are multiple twists and turns to the story that keep you on the edge of your seat. The narrator, Scott Brick is at his best. If you can't deal with a high anxiety book - wondering what is going to happen. This may not be for you - But for all the rest - download this book - you will not be disappointed.

This raw and vivid portrait of juvenile detention centers and life on the run catapults John Gilstrap to the forefront of the crime thriller genre. Nathan Bailey is a 12-year-old juvenile-hall orphan with a problem. Covered in blood, he is caught on videotape fleeing from a murder scene. Will the boy evade the police long enough to tell the truth? Or will a hit man kill him before he gets the chance?

Starts out just a little slow and you wonder why someone recommended it. Then the plot builds in complexity and you become totally engaged and cannot wait to find out how it ends. Reader is terrific. I was late to work sitting in the garage listening to the ending. In its own way as good as any Lee Child or Michael Connelly book.

A Washington, DC, lawyer and a frequent major media commentator on the Supreme Court, Anthony Franze delivers a high-stakes story of family, power, loss, and revenge set within the insular world of the highest court of our country. Among Washington, DC, power players, everyone has secrets they desperately want to keep hidden, including Sean Serrat, a Supreme Court lawyer. Sean transformed his misspent youth into a model adulthood and now has one of the most respected legal careers in the country.

Good legal thriller. I divide this book into quarters. After the first quarter I was going to stop reading i. The second and third quarters of the book were good and I was anxious to find out how it would turn out. I felt the ending wrapped up and came too quickly. I have felt his in a number of books where I get the idea that the publisher is pressing the author to finish the book, so it is wrapped up quickly - too quickly.

This is an unbelievable book. Terrific story, just when you think things are over there is new twist. The narrator is great on par with Scott Brick, Will Patton, etc this had you right up to the end. The detective in this book is a hard-a** Harry Bosch type with an edge to him, not quite Jack Reacher but almost. I was so sad that it was only 9 hours and really sad that I could not find another book by this author. Interestingly, if you search for books under the narrator's name you will find that most are > 4.2 stars.

bottom line - Get this book you will not be disappointed.

To all appearances, Dan Chase is a harmless retiree in Vermont with two big mutts and a grown daughter he keeps in touch with by phone. But most 60-year-old widowers don't have multiple driver's licenses, savings stockpiled in banks across the country, and a bugout kit with two Beretta Nanos stashed in the spare bedroom closet. Most have not spent decades on the run.

The book goes along at a medium pace - a bit tedious and then becomes interesting at the 3/4 mark. And then after all that - it leaves you with this weak unimaginative ending.

Two blood-spattered strangers awake, locked in the trunk of a car - with a murdered cop and the smoking gun. Aside from raging headaches and no idea what's happened, they appear to have nothing in common. Troy thinks it's 2001 and he's still a combat surgeon fighting terrorists in Afghanistan. Emmy believes it's 2002 and she's still grifting a living from the streets of L.A.

Overall I enjoyed the story - good twists and turns and had you on the edge of your seat at times. The ending suffered - a bit unbelievable how the "good guys" get out of a jam - and everything falls into place. Wrapped up too quickly as if the author was on a deadline to turn the book in

The New York Museum of Natural History receives their pilfered gem collection back, ground down to dust. This is the final book in the Pendergast trilogy. You have to read at least Book 2 (Dance of Death) otherwise this book will make no sense. Intricate great plot with twists and turns. I must say I couldn't wait for the book to end, not because the book was bad but because the "bad guy" is really bad
