These stories are about how, many years ago, Arthur the once and future King of England, set out to save his country from the troubles that plagued it, aided by the brave knights of the Round Table, and the most famous sword in the world, Excalibur. How Merlin the Wizard fought against the wicked Morgana le Fay's enchantments, and how Arthur loved and lost the beautiful Guinevere, his Queen.

Of all the audiobooks I have downloaded, this was my favorite. The story of King Arthur is a classic for a reason. The production and the narration especially are well done. Having a talented actor doing the reading makes such a difference. The listener is completely drawn into the story. I would highly recommend this.

In Night Pleasures, Kyrian of Thrace - an immortal who protects humans from vampires - wakes up one morning handcuffed to the one thing that can scare him: a conservative woman in a button-down shirt. But Amanda Devereaux turns out to be his perfect partner for hunting down a deadly foe, and for helping him to regain his soul and learn that love doesn't have to bite.

    "Where is the plot?"
    Overall

I thought this was going to be a book about vampires, the supernatural or something interesting. Instead for the first 2 hours there is 5 minutes of actual plot and the rest is the two leads describing in obsessive detail how hot they are for each other. Repeatedly. Was Sherrilyn Kenyon being paid by the word?

About three things I was certain. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him, and I didn't know how dominant that part might be, that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.

If you are expecting something along the lines of Buffy or Angel or Anne Rice, forget it. This is not that book. Imagine a main character with no interests or skills. She falls madly in love with the vampire because he is so handsome (she repeats this often) , and he loves her for her smell (he mentions it repeatedly). There is no character development, I think Bella actually becomes less intelligent as the book progresses. Very irritating. Definitely not worth 2 credits.

In Coraline's family's new flat are twenty-one windows and fourteen doors. Thirteen of the doors open and close. The fourteenth is locked, and on the other side is only a brick wall, until the day Coraline unlocks the door to find a passage to another flat in another house just like her own.

    Overall

This is a short captivating story that totally draws you in. The characters are vividly described, so that you feel you are seeing them. Neil Gaiman is an excellent storyteller, both as the writer and as the narrator. It's been a long time since I've become so caught up in a story that I couldn't turn it off, I had to find out what happened next. It might be a little too creepy for very small children, but everyone else should enjoy it.

Why we think it’s a great listen: It is a truth universally acknowledged that anyone looking for a great listen won’t be able to resist Jane Austen’s delightful classic of love and manners in Regency England. Jane Austen's story of Mrs. Bennet's finding husbands for her daughters is told with wit and charm. A must for lovers of good literature. Commuters Library presents Pride and Prejudice read by Kate Reading.

    Overall

I have read Pride and Prejudice every summer since I was 15. Even knowing how things will turn out does not make the book any less enjoyable. Jane Austen created some truly wonderful characters, with whom it is always a pleasure to visit. I have high praise for the narrator. She handles the voices so well, and gives each character a distinct personality. Her interpretations of Mrs. Bennett and Mr. Collins alone would make the purchase of this audiobook worthwhile.

Ellen DeGeneres published her first book of comic essays, the #1 best selling My Point...and I Do Have One, way back in 1996. Not one to rest on her laurels, the witty star of stage and screen has since dedicated her life to writing a hilarious new book. That book is this audiobook.

    "this just wasn't funny"
    Overall

After purchasing the two David Sedaris audios and being so happy, I had been looking for something equally hilarious. I really had hopes for this audiobook based on the preview clip and the fact that I like Ellen, but was seriously disappointed. There were a few amusing moments followed by 3+ hours of unfunny, monotone, meanderings. Spend your money on something else.
