The character's story telling was so good. You laughed and cried with them. It had some history in it that really helped to tell the story and entertain.
The "voice" the author gives the characters, especially the character of no ears and the voice the narrator used didn't match in my head, but overall, she did a good job.
No ears, for sure! He seemed so interesting and had such insight, but kind of from an unusual perspective and with odd ideas and thoughts. I would love to have a conversation with him!
Larry McMurtry is awesome! As always!
The humor and dead-panned narration cracked me up!
The cop that helped erin - he was just plain amusing - especially with his cigar!
dead-panned narration really added to the humor
it was awesome!
Some of the stories were amazing and I wanted more, some were hard to get into and a little bit strange. Short stories can be like that though.
sure - but see the above comment
The narration was really good. It helped the differences between the stories stand out.
I've only ever listened to the Jack Reacher novels, never read them.
Yes! I was in a constant state of trying to figure out the ending. I truly enjoyed every aspect of the suspense! It was really one of his best novels!
Of course, Jack Reacher is such an amazing character and Dick Hill IS Jack Reacher in my mind, but I also really liked the reporters character and story line.
I can see why they chose this novel for thier first movie!
Cute novels - enjoyable story!
Hard to say - the interaction between the 2 main characters was charming and funny.
I plan to get more of these novels. It was short, sweet, and entertaining. Pure fun reads!
I'm not sure. The first story was great! The second was pretty good. The last 2 were just plain weird!
I like his novels, but am beginning to feel like his short stories aren't worth getting. I loved his earlier short stories, but the ones I have bought lately have been too strange.
The characters were so great and connectable. The performer had great voice and animation.
When Leo spouts poetry at the guy holding Trevor.
I was so torn up over the death of one of the characters (don't want to give anything away). I was surprised and saddened over it!
Great story teller! Pat Conroy is awesome!
Yes - the full story of the trilogy must be told!
The charecters took forever to see a connection I saw right away and it bothered me. Otherwise it was pretty good overall.
I love his voice and the way he speaks and the slight voice change he has for each charecter. When I saw the movie, I felt Daniel Craig spoke incorrectly because I wanted his voice to match the narrators from the books!
Yes, especially because I was always looking for answers to questions, but it was way to long to do that :)
I loved the multiple characters - it really added to the story!
I would with the caveat that if you don't know the original story, it's not as exciting as Hollywood implies - I liked the story, but it was really slow in places and did not have the intensity I expected.
The multiple voices were awesome!
Hmmm - it's been done before so it's hard to say... Maybe... The True Dracula Story
It is told in pieces from multiple characters - a little disjointed at times, but fun to listen to!
Yes, but only based on reputation, not on this collection of shorts. It was awful! the stories all started out great, but then they just fizzled out!
I really liked the beginning of the first 2 stories, like they had a lot of potential to become great stories, but then they just ended, leaving the listener to think "what was that? why did I listen to that" I have no idea what the first story was about, the second left many open questions and desire to have known more, and the third was short and boring.
He has a great voice for story telling and knows how the lines are supposed to be delivered.
The first and third stories all together and expanded the second story.
I thought it had an amazing story with great characters and vision, but the climax and ending were a let down overall. I didn't know the story and I was expecting more adventure at the end and a more grandious escape. I also thought the wrap up of the characters at the end was also anti-climactic.
yes - but only if they really liked adventure stories, knew about the ending, or I gave them a heads up about the end.
Main one - the story was from his point of view and therefore it biased me toward him.
no - it ended, going back into the story would be weird.
