I'm so glad I found this series! I have enjoyed every book I've read so far. Having the stories told from Chet's perspective is refreshing and fun. The narrator does a great job with all of the voices, especially Chet's and Bernie's. Recommended for mystery fans (who also appreciate dog stories).

The Denver Post hails Craig Johnson's Walt Longmire mystery series as a must-read. Joining the four previous novels - all of which have been Book Sense picks - The Dark Horse puts a unique Wyoming twist on the classic British village mystery. When Longmire meets a woman jailed for her husband's death, he travels outside his usual haunts to discover the truth behind this unusual murder case.

This is not my usual genre (mysteries set in Wyoming solved by a local sheriff), but after reading so many great reviews of the series I decided to try one. I have enjoyed every book so far. The stories are so well written and the characters are so well developed that the reader is completely pulled in right from the start. Recommended for fans of mysteries.

Don Tillman, professor of genetics, has never been on a second date. So when an acquaintance informs him that he would make a "wonderful" husband, his first reaction is shock. Yet he must concede to the statistical probability that there is someone for everyone, and Don sets out to find the perfect partner. She will be punctual and logical - most definitely not a barmaid, a smoker, a drinker, or a late-arriver. Yet Rosie Jarman is all these things. She is also beguiling, fiery, intelligent - and on a quest of her own....

August (Auggie) Pullman was born with a facial deformity that prevented him from going to a mainstream school - until now. He’s about to enter fifth grade at Beecher Prep, and if you’ve ever been the new kid, then you know how hard that can be. The thing is Auggie’s just an ordinary kid, with an extraordinary face. But can he convince his new classmates that he’s just like them, despite appearances?R. J. Palacio has crafted an uplifting novel full of wonderfully realistic family interactions, lively school scenes, and writing that shines with spare emotional power.

If a teen (or anyone) reads Thirteen Reasons Why and is feeling like suicide is an option for severe depression, that person needs to read Wonder. Auggie shows amazing bravery and strength all through this story. He has to deal with so much fear, anger, rejection, and ridicule all because of something completely outside of his control. He has friends and family who come alongside him and support him throughout his experiences. The ending was extremely positive for all of the involved characters!

Born a generation apart and with very different ideas about love and family, Mariam and Laila are two women brought jarringly together by war, by loss, and by fate. As they endure the ever escalating dangers around them, in their home as well as in the streets of Kabul, they come to form a bond that makes them both sisters and mother-daughter to each other, and that will ultimately alter the course not just of their own lives but of the next generation.

In addition to the excellent story, it was interesting to learn about many of the customs from the Afgan culture. The horrors that the people had to live through were heartbreaking. That so many could come out on the other side with hope and ready to start again was inspiring. I was moved to tears at the end.

Born into an elite family in one of the Republic's wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic's highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country's most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem. From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths - until the day June's brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect.

Since she’d been on the outside, she’d survived an Aether storm, she’d had a knife held to her throat, and she’d seen men murdered. This was worse. Exiled from her home, the enclosed city of Reverie, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland - known as The Death Shop - are slim. If the cannibals don’t get her, the violent, electrified energy storms will. She’s been taught that the very air she breathes can kill her. Then Aria meets an Outsider named Perry. He’s wild - a savage - and her only hope of staying alive.

This story grabbed my attention and kept me interested until the end. It was easy to become involved with each of the main characters and their back stories. I was reminded in ways of The Hunger Games, yet this story definitely took its own direction. After reading the story first, the narrator didn't quite seem right to me as I listened (that's why 4 out of 5 stars), but I still enjoyed the experience. I can't wait to read the second book!
