Best-selling author Iyanla Vanzant recounts the last decade of her life and the spiritual lessons learned—from the price of success during her meteoric rise as a TV celebrity on Oprah, the Iyanla TV show (produced by Barbara Walters), to the dissolution of her marriage and her daughter’s 15 months of illness and death on Christmas day. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Iyanla shares why everything we need to learn is reflected in our relationships and explains the strength and wisdom she has gained by supporting others.

What did you love best about Peace from Broken Pieces?

what I liked best was that no matter what came her way, it might have knocked her out but it was only for a little while and then she got back up again

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character of course was Iyanla, because of how she over came her obstacles in her life.

Have you listened to any of Iyanla Vanzant’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listen to Iyanla's other books before, but this one I think was the best.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes

A debut of extraordinary distinction: through the trials of one unforgettable family, Ayana Mathis tells the story of the children of the Great Migration, a story of love and bitterness and the promise of a new America. In 1923, 15-year-old Hattie Shepherd flees Georgia and settles in Philadelphia, hoping for a chance at a better life. Instead, she marries a man who will bring her nothing but disappointment and watches helplessly as her firstborn twins succumb to an illness a few pennies could have prevented.
