Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was ok. The narration was good, but the story lacked the character development to really keep my interest.

What about Therese Plummer’s performance did you like?

    Good narration.

Samantha Kingston has it all: the world's most crush-worthy boyfriend, three amazing best friends, and first pick of everything at Thomas Jefferson High—from the best table in the cafeteria to the choicest parking spot. Friday, February 12, should be just another day in her charmed life. Instead, it turns out to be her last. Then she gets a second chance. Seven chances, in fact.

Where does Before I Fall rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

    About the middle.

How could the performance have been better?

Most of the main characters friends were narrated in a lethargic, stoned style. Not my favorite.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. Narration of supporting characters was difficult.

  • Sunrise Over Fallujah

Acclaimed author Walter Dean Myers presents a compelling novel that looks at America's occupation of Iraq through the eyes of those who live it first hand. Charged with building up relations between the U.S. military and the Iraqi people, a team of soldiers strives to make real connections and bridge the divide between two very different cultures. On constant guard from frequent suicide bomb attacks and deadly skirmishes, their situation reveals a tragic human toll.

Sima Stanley says: "Excellent, moving account of soldiers' lives."

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I just kept waiting for something to happen. There was nothing that really made me connect with the main character.

What could Walter Dean Myers have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

More character development. The underlying conflict between the soldier and his father never developed fully.

Was Sunrise Over Fallujah worth the listening time?

Sure, but it left me wondering why the book was written/published.

    Any additional comments?

Not the moving account I had hoped for.

Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning? In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Only Cabrillo could convert the interior of a nondescript lumber hauler into a state-of-the-art spy ship - and only he could take the helm on the dangerous covert missions it carries out for whichever US agency pays the price.

    Yvonne says: "Just OK"
    "Narrator was TERRIBLE"
    Overall

I love Clive Cussler and all of his books. I drive 120 miles a day and listen to a lot of audiobooks. The narrator, J Charles, has to be the worst narrator I have ever endured. He uses absurd accents for different characters who each seemed to have a different accent every time they speak. He also occasionally referred to Juan as Juan Cabri-L-L-o. He apparently could manage to merge a Southern U.S. and Scottish accent which created something akin to fingernails on the chaulk board, but was unable to pronounce the main character's name correctly. I will NEVER listen to another audiobook by this narrator.
