I first encountered Kate Morton’s books in May of 2011 and have waited anxiously for each new Audible publication. But in my opinion “The Secret Keeper” is her finest so far. Her character development is beautifully done and her ability to have the reader travel back and forth between eras is accomplished smoothly and effortlessly. I found myself totally enmeshed in the lives of Jimmy and Dorothy and Vivian and when the story moved to present day, I became a member of Laurel’s family and “saw” each of her sisters and her brother clearly. As a firm believer in “degrees of separation”, the twists and turns this story took on its journey were totally believable. For 19 wonderful hours I was lost in the lives of others and am so sorry the story has ended.

I need to also say that without Caroline Lee’s narration much would be lost. I have enjoyed her presentation of each of the other Kate Morton books that I have listened too.

If you like history, a mystery, a love story and a well-executed book, do not hesitate to select “The Secret Keeper”. It is a real keeper!

I was excited to see Dixie is coming out of her mourning. This will be interesting to watch this unfold. I also really love how Blaize Clement develops the animal's personality and you get a good picture of the animals.

Not on the edge, but very interested and engaged. I loved "the snake" episode - very creative and Paco was funny.

Her voice fits in perfectly. Please keep her for the other books from the series that your are going to record!

yes, I cried when she had to put down little Maime, the dachshund. It brought back memories.

These are not mind twister mysteries. They are just a very enjoyable "read" a way to relax while you are doing something else that doesn't require your concentration.

Yes but I couldn't. As soon as I walked back into the house, I turned it on and I even took it on the walk Dolly (my dog) and I took. It was a great book to knit to.

I see there is only one more of this series on Audible but Amazon has several and one new one is due out in July 2013. I sure hope Audible decides to record these. On to the next one.

Yes, I would. I loved the fun and funny way it was written and performed and because it was a good mystery. I was surprised by "who dune it"

Maggie, the lead character. Karen Savage, the narrator, really made her come alive.

I don't know of a favorite scene but I loved the way the character had little "aside" thoughts, comments and conversations with herself through out the entire story.

Yes, I laughed a lot. Maggie is really funny.

I recommend this book as a very well executed, fun, light, enjoyable listen. I hope Sandra Balzo develops this character in future books. And she should keep Karen Savage as the narrator, she is a perfect voice for Maggie. Thanks Sandra and Karen for a fun time!

This book was a light, fun listen. Don't expect a great masterpiece or a literary work of art. It is just enjoyable and relaxing. The two "mysteries" in the book were well developed (I didn't solve either until right before they were revealed and my early suspicions were incorrect). It kept my interest and was very enjoyable to listen to as I knit. I was a little worried when I purchased it that it might be a religious book because her husband was a minister but no religion was preached - his job just happened to be a minister. I hope Audible decides to carry some of the other books in this series because I would purchase them.

I almost never purchase books that have not been reviewed and I really should have stuck to that on this one. I used my last point this month on this book and I finally gave up on it as a lost cause about 3/4 of the way through the first part. I just couldn't take it any more. What a waste!
