Lady Philippa Marbury is...odd. The brilliant, bespectacled daughter of a double marquess cares more for books than balls, for science than the season, and for laboratories than love. She's looking forward to marrying her simple fiancé and living out her days quietly with her dogs and her scientific experiments. But before that, Pippa has two weeks to experience all the rest - 14 days to research the exciting parts of life. It's not much time, and to do it right she needs a guide familiar with London's darker corners.

Loved this book! Rare to find a romance that takes you from sweet romance to "hot" to laugh out loud scenes and back and forth. Loved the characters - unique Pippa, troubled but good man, Cross. Of course, w/Rosalyn Landor as the narrator, you know it's perfection. Even better than the first book (which was good).

Maggie Beaumont's luck is about to change. Sure, she's known for her bad romantic choices-her former boyfriend broke up with her by bringing his new girlfriend home for a visit. And then there was the crush she had on a gorgeous young Irishman, who turned out to be Father Tim, the parish's new priest. But romantic salvation has arrived in the form of handsome, if surly, fisherman Malone. It turns out there's a heart of gold underneath his barnacle-clad exterior. Will this catch of the day turn into the dish of a lifetime?

Not to be harsh as I genuinely like this author, but the best thing about this was the narration. Ms. Sands saved it for me. I think I understand that Maggie (leading character) was supposed to inspire you to root for the underdog, the good woman who can't find a good man. But, unfortunately, I just found her continuing, NEVER ending bad choices to become annoying after awhile. Far more emphasis and time is devoted to the wrong relationships / friendships than to the relationship she ultimately winds up in. I was left feeling a little shortchanged, not really understanding what the couple really had going for them other than sex at the end. (Enjoyed Ms. Higgins "Blue Heron" series.

After experiencing a humiliating breakup, 22-year-old Cassandra Clarke is fresh out of college and living a simple, solitary life without any intention of pursuing love anytime soon. When the estate next door sells, the last thing Cassandra expects is the unnerving attraction she feels for her sinfully handsome neighbor, Logan West, the young and charming single father with a playboy reputation.

Ms. Xe Sands could make reading a grocery list enthralling. I've yet to listen to any of her narrations that were less than excellent. As for the book and storyline itself, it was quite good. The main characters were likable and there's quite a bit of mystery surrounding both and their backgrounds, particularly Logan. Two things I didn't know: 1) There is a prequel that released after this book, "Indulge". 2) This is a cliffhanger. Story ends with no resolution to the characters lives and their relationship. You MUST continue on in the series.

In Grimsgrave Hall, enigmatic Nicholas Brisbane has inherited a ruined estate, replete with uncanny tenants and one unwanted houseguest: Lady Julia Grey. Despite his admonitions to stay away, Lady Julia arrives in Yorkshire to find Brisbane as remote and maddeningly attractive as ever. Cloistered together, they share the moldering house with the proud but impoverished remnants of an ancient family: the sort that keeps their bloodline pure and their secrets close.

First to address the narration by Ms. Archer .... I absolutely loved her! I don't know all the proper accents and words, so I'm not prone to be as particular as some. I found her speech to be articulate and precise while giving emotion to the character of Lady Julia. For some reason, I found the voice of the sister, Portia, to be quite humorous as I believe she was meant to be. I thought Ms. Archer's ability to give the characters different voices was quite good. The story was a bit dark and the mystery was intriguing. Loved all the twists and turns and thought it was all tied together well at the end, while answering questions about who did what. This is a period piece, there is passion, but not steamy scenes. I recommend the books be listened to in order. Mrs. B.

One look at Harry Pye, and Georgina knows she's not just dealing with a servant, but a man. Harry has known many aristocrats - including one particular nobleman who is his sworn enemy. But Harry has never met a beautiful lady so independent, uninhibited, and eager to be in his arms. Still, it's impossible to conduct a discreet liaison when poisoned sheep, murdered villagers, and an enraged magistrate have the county in an uproar.

I hesitate to write a poor review ... but, nevertheless. After enjoying the Raven Prince and Ms. Quirk's narration, it seemed only natural to follow with the Leopard Prince. Unfortunately, they didn't seem to have much in common. I found this book to be somewhat juvenile and was surprised by Ms. Quirk's narration. It almost sounded like someone reading a fairytale, a bit cartoonish, with a little uninspiring sex thrown in here and there. My impression of the main female character was that she was an uninspiring airhead that wasn't worth building a story around, pretty much the same for the male lead. Still pondering how the two books could have been so different, even in narration. Mrs. B.

Truly enjoyed this book more than any romance in a long time. Nice escape ... loved both main characters and appreciated the anticipation and imagination built into the story. So glad it wasn't filled with constant angst like so many. Will be looking for more books narrated by Ms. Quirk. Her narration was absolutely perfect.... wonderful emotion, did male and female characters equally well.

Edgar, Lefty and Barry Award nominee Ben Rehder delivers the third hilarious installment of the Blanco County mystery series. A chupacabra - a wild, possibly mythical beast with potentially vampiric qualities - is loose in Texas. As hunters plot the demise of this mysterious creature, tabloid reporters descend on Blanco County. Only level-headed game warden John Marlin can makes sense of the mayhem.

This is a good book regardless, but the narrator, in my opinion, made the book. His country accent and pronounciations were perfect for the comedy. If you don't find humor in good ol' boys, hunting, game wardens, and chupacabras, you might want to pass. lol It's creative and hilarious.

Surrounded by her children, her extended family, and what seems like half of Colleton County, a semi-conscious Rachel breaks weeks of pained silence with snippets of stories as randomly pieced together as a well-worn patchwork quilt. But the Knott family's joy quickly gives way to shock: less than an hour later, Aunt Rachel is found dead in her bed, smothered with a pillow. Who would kill a woman on her deathbed? Was it an act of mercy, or murder?

I'm reviewing only the narration. I truly enjoy Ms. Maron's books and have listened to this entire series. For me personally, I was unable to appreciate the change in narrators this late in the game. CJ Critt has done an excellent job on the series and "is" Deborah Knott in my mind. Ms. Maron, although a wonderful author, does not have the experience in narrating and I am disappointed in this change. She does not sound like a woman of Deborah's age or from that region.

I absolutely love the author's descriptions of North Carolina and the people there. CJ Critt's narration is so enjoyable. The down home phrases and terms of endearment (Shug or Sug -- short for sugar) are particularly sweet for me as I heard them throughout my childhood. She gives Deborah's character a no nonsense manner, but with a definite soft hearted side, and I love her accent in the books. The books are mysteries, but they are also about Deborah's large (LARGE) family and their lives and you can't help but love them and get involved in what's going on in their lives. It can be confusing with many characters mentioned. If you go to the author's website, she has a family tree for this series. :) This particular mystery is quite good and I was unable to "solve" it until all was revealed. Highly recommend the series, but make sure you start at the beginning. JB

Was surprised that this book followed such a similar plot line as the first, but never the less, I recommend it as an entertaining audible book. I absolutely love Xe Sands' narration. No, she doesn't have a British accent. But, what she does have is one of the sexiest voices I've heard, a great ability to do female AND male voices very well and smoothly shift back and forth. The characters are fun and sexy and there's adventures at sea. As before, there's mystery and romance (pretty steamy) and humor. Eagerly awaiting the next book! JB

I don't want to be harsh, the book wasn't "terrible", it just wasn't that good. The story line of the characters constantly bickering was annoying, regardless of the "sexual tension" building. I'm never impressed when the whole basis is two people who can't stand each other but can't keep their hands off each other. Then after all the buildup, the "scene" was not that enthralling. The conversation wasn't witty or entertaining or seductive. Ms. Bean has exceled, I'm sure, in some of her narrations, but this wasn't one of them. She sounded like she was reading, if that makes sense. A good narrator makes you imagine that that voice "is" the character. Her male voices, frankly, were just bad. I just can't recommend this as a good listen. JB
